It is a interesting topic, and one I brought into attention a few years ago when UA used to extensively operate the 757 TATL over winter months. They consistently had a diversion rate of >50% over the winter months on their longest 757 routes, yet marketed and sold the flights as nonstops. Have fun...

Asiana 747-400 schedule and retirement date?

My understanding is that Asiana is going to retire its sole 747 this year. Has a date been set? Also, can’t seem to find it in their schedule after end of March/start of summer season. It is not on any of the current routes of TYO/TPE/CTS. What are the planned flights with the start of summer season?

Checking my flight log, my YYT-LHR flight took 4h 56m, with an airborne time of 4:35, and LHR-YHZ 6:16 with airborne time of 5:45.

A few years ago, flying between LAX-ARN-LAX, I flew LAX-YYZ-YYT-LHR-ARN and ARN-LHR-YHZ-YYZ-LAX, just to get those two flights into my flight log. Both flights were operated by the 737-8 MAX, and at least the FAs flew YYZ-YYT-LHR and LHR-YHZ-YYZ. It was a regular full meal on both TATL segments.

From what I gather the winds won’t even be anywhere close to a typical Santa Ana wind event we get. It looks like Flair is updating its schedule... New winter routes incoming; kinda expected it at some point. They are also very logical routes and routes I was kind of expecting them to announce! Seeing all these horrible OTP, I truly got away easy with just a 20min delay on my YYC-LAX flight last Thursday.

Have another Lynx trip booked, YYZ-LAX in October. Maybe time to look for a back up flight? Are the birds as tightly scheduled, or will there be more slack in the fleet after peak summer?

For what it is worth, flew with Lynx opby GlobalX yesterday on YYC-LAX, and the flight was about 20min late. Was pretty nervous flying with them due to their horrible OTP, but went pretty well after all. Flight was pretty full.

Doesn’t really qualify, and it is a route, but have to mention the UA Island Hopper. That is a really interesting route, which I flew on earlier this year. Was quite a long and exhausting day, but happy I did it!
