it'll also bring other benefits to CM operations, like the same crew can come back on the same plane for short runs ie PTY-MIA-PTY and not have to overnight in order to get a flight the next day. Also, even if PTY offers it CM doesnt have to abide by it, they can decide not to use the preclearance....

I don't understand why EWR gets so much criticism in a.net and flyertalk. In september I made a connection there (from Terminal B to Terminal C) in less than 2hrs and it was a blast. I really like the natural lighting in Terminal C.

It would be better if the USA can make I to I connections easier.

This happened in my home airport (PTY) and it was awful, but just for 6hr. That was enough to cancel ops at Copa for the rest of the day. I'm really confused. Most, if not all of SQ Long Haul operations, lose money. And they want to compete head to head with UA in this route.
Well, let's see who blinks first. If I were them, I would have started first SIN-LAX. The market is bigger, I think, and has no competitors.

Adding to what IAHWorldflyer says, it doesnt affect profits, but liquidity.
In cash, they would have 100m less, that affect cashflow, but in the paper they would see less cost because it would be only depreciation cost.
BUT, if you are in a rainy year, you will prefer to have the cash in hand. .
