They did it in the same way CO did it before them, they improved service levels. They also did it at a time when UA and AA were cutting costs, making the sudden improvement even more of a stand out. Putting the 747 SP up against the 741 really doesn't tell the whole story, the 742B had a range of 6560nm and the 744 was 7670nm.

Again, comparing the 340-500 isn't fair, it was designed as a flying fuel tank, compare the 340-300 to the 340-600, 7300nm to 7800nm.

A quick look at random prices showed that VS/DL and BA/AA have reacted quickly to B6.

VS/DL $1960
B6 $2200
BA/AA $2400

Also of course B6 has no lounge.

So the big boys aren't giving up the routes easily, but with that said, I don't see B6 having any issues filling the Mint cabin on every flight.

No, the type of person that orders this type of ship will want direct input into the specs and fitting out, the UK already has Princess putting out some nice larger boats, but it is a giant step up to do what the Dutch and Germans are doing now.

I can understand wanting to lose the Mccarran name due to the racist and anti sematic background, but honestly, they should have gone for a neutral name like Las Vegas International.

Harry has done a lot for Las Vegas and Nevada, but something neutral would be better.
