When LAX was my "home" airport, I connected there quite a few times when I found flights to the even closer OXR or when I needed extra miles and did stuff like SYD-LAX-SFO-BUR. When YYZ was one of my home airports, I connected there several times on various things as well.

In smaller airplanes, the yaw damper is off for taxi, takeoff and landing. Even in many business jets, you depart without it on, but put it on at V2 or whatever. Many autopilots will leave yaw damp on if you turn off the autopilot with the trim interrupt and only the red button will turn it off.

KCM came into being because they tried to force a pilot into a body scanner or pat down and wouldn't let him through. He and the union, rightfully, raised a stink and KCM came into being. This was before Pre Check existed.

A lot of this has to do with staffing. Since the A350 fleet flew through COVID, MUC based pilots never really lost currency. I know that whether SAN goes back to FRA or adds FRA in addition to MUC is an open question.

Plenty of pilots and flight attendants commute from all over to a base based on different factors. I met an AA FA who commuted from Paris to New York to work transcons. Not a real cost of living swap there.

It often depends on a letter of agreement whether you'll need to get handed off or not. Most approach controls have agreements with their underlying towers to handle transitional aircraft in parts of their airspace. You really have to keep in mind the overall picture. As Starlionblue said, traffic may be a factor - including traffic off Kadena Air Base up the coast. Low clouds are not going to be an issue for IFR aircraft, unless those also come with convection.

The most expensive rental car taxes I ever saw were at MCI, when they were paying for some stadium - probably the then Sprint, now T-Mobile Center, or some renovation to Arrowhead/Kaufman. It was almost half the total price and the rental companies weren't being as transparent then.
