They drove under a Southwest plane on the taxiway and finally the Port Police pitted the car behind the Southwest gates. The person tried to run but was tackled by the Police. The new PDX concourse E extension is quite underwhelming for me. It's open and airing but does not wow me. A lot of wasted space with few eateries. Where are all the Portland restaurants the Port said was coming? I think Southwest got the short end of the stick with the move.

The POP will be closing 8 gates for the new terminal project next week, some for 2 years and some for good. The gates are C1, C2, C4, C5, D1, D2, D3, D4.

There might be room for a E5 gate area up stairs but not on ground level. Gate E6 is right next to E4. The days of two widebody gates on the E concourse are long gone. E1 now can only hold a 757-300 and all others only fit 737/320.

At work today I noticed the concourse E extension has the gate numbers on the external building now. One thing is missing, E5. The new gates are numbered from E6 to E12. So it goes from E4 (old part) to E6 (new part). Why leave out E5?

Boutique Air moved to their new location. The Port converted the old Skywest hangar office into a terminal. Who knows how long they will last under the current circumstances.

United feeds a lot of passengers to ET out of PDX and they fork out tons of extra bag fee charges every flight. The usual is 5 passengers = 30 bags on our flights. I would like to find out how many total bags their ORD/IAD-ADD flights depart with?

The utilities issue was found out after that November 14th report. That first 2 million was agreed when they found a buried fuel tank the Port knew nothing about. United is about to walk on the whole deal now.

The United hangar might not happen now. The current problem is the whole ANG base uses one meter for all its water and one meter for electricity.The Port wants United to foot the bill to split these utilities which will cost 2 million plus. The city of Portland, Oregon started a sick time ordinance a few years ago. The ordinance states any company that has a business in the city limits must give their employees 40 hours of sick time a year without retaliation. The POP is forcing United to move their ticket counter to the north lobby. They will move next to Delta in early 2018. If I had to guess, Southwest will move into the current United position.

United is going to build or move into an existing hangar at PDX to start an A check line in the near future. They have been transferring in a bunch of techs in the last few months. Maybe those LAX A checks are moving up to PDX?

They just rebuilt the bus shelters at D8 and E2 for the international buses, so this is the POP solution to having C&BP at the end of concourse D.

Of course they add more mainline after they outsourced the the station. The United employees weren't even given a vote if they wanted to take a pay cut to stay in OMA, most of them would have.

Delta had 2 Crown Rooms at PDX back in their gateway days. The one not being used is upstairs between D5 and D7. You can see the windows over looking the concourse.

If they put Southwest on E, it would be a nightmare. Concourse E is only half the width of C & D. It's super crowded with just United and Air Canada. The POP would be better off putting Southwest on D and then the smaller airlines over on E.

They can probably build 6 more gates onto E. They would have to move the E5 jetway more east to line up the new gates. The port replaced the asphalt with concrete a few years ago on the E6 ramp, so they can save time building the new extension and not have to worry about the ramp area, I wonder if H...
