Re: What was the rationale for 2-5-2 configuration on older widebodies?

I was unfortunate enough to once be stuck in the middle seat of a fully loaded Rich International L1011. MCO-YQX-BFS. Thank goodness for the refueling stop in Gander, where I was able to get off the aircraft and stretch my legs. Loved the 2-5-2 config also, having a row of 5 seats to yourself was s...

Re: How Boeing’s Responsibility in a Deadly Crash ‘Got Buried’

Not surprising, I pointed similarities in the design and Boeing tactic on Turkish 1951 last year. Similar to specially the Lionair crash. https://www.airliners.net/forum/search.php?keywords=Keesje+1951&t=1432067&sf=msgonly Dismissing rumours, wait of the official investigation report, while...

Re: Delta “Waiting To Order” Boeing NMA

All interesting. The cheaper price seems to win over product quality every time. He stated he was waiting on Boeing and said the 321 with all the bells and whistles still can’t do what the 757 can but Boeing has their hands full. .... FACT the A321XLR runs circles around the 757. Only if it comes e...

Thankfully permanently logging off this site, it's pretty obvious the civil aviation forum is now run by the anti Boeing Euro crowd, the keesje, wlederling, mjoenrl, the sky God zeke, the usual group, with their thinly veiled cheap shots,, go back and read some their posts, its clearly obvious they a...

Re: KLM Orders 2 x 777-300s and Converts 789s to 10s

I don't like that they to buy old technology, when they could have bought more quiet planes. The 787 isn't exactly quiet. If the 787 isn't exactly quiet, then the 350 must not be that quiet either, right?, may I suggest if the noise bothers you SO much, perhaps if you ask kindly, the cockpit crew c...

Pretty lame "joke"
To laugh at Boeing about what?
The wildly successful trio of the A345/A346/A380?, Airbus is a very successful company, employing some very intelligent people, but they have issues too

Re: Why did American Airlines go with 707 over DC-8?

Greendot never heard off 344,000 in flight, how could max takeoff be lower than in flight weight, never heard of this in many years working with un and hushkitted 707s. Just adding some info that I'm aware of. I think that ties into a thread we have on Mil-av about military versions tanking up over...

Greendot
What is interesting is that the 707-320c (325k takeoff, 344k inflight) is twice the takeoff weight of an almost similar sized A321. I fly/flew both.
B707320C adv model max tow was 336,000 lbs with either -3b or -7 engines, with Comtran hush kits this reduced mtow to 322,300 ...

So overruns do not just happen in Indonesia. Glad to see no one was injured, hey at least the nose gear tires didn't come off, or was tilted 90 degrees, oh wait that's a different..... Short runway, tailwind, and wet conditions are not a good recipe, this is basic airmanship I was taught many years...

FYI, Jean Rich, the original owner passed away a few years before the shutdown. After her death, the ownership of the airline was split up between her kids and her husband, she certainly had nothing to do with closing the company down, the airline was grounded by the FAA.
