Looking at the photo, the bottom of the engine nacelle is pretty scorched,or burned through. That looks like a fuel pool fire, but it doesn't make sense to have it after landing, unless there was a leak and yhe engine was already shutdown. That engine is definitely toast.

Remember, the weight restrictions are for passengers. Most likely due to more profitable cargo being shipped instead. I can almost gauruntee that the route is profitable for Delta as it is flown today.

Yes, it will takeoff if the plane can land at the airport. The modern jet engine can injest ungodly amounts of water and continue to run. Visibility and convection are the 2 things that could cause a problem for the departure.

This vote will be good for both the pilots and managment. Pilots showed they have a backbone and won't sell out for just a pay increase and worse work rules, and managment now has an understanding of what it will take to get to the 50%+1 for their bottom numbers.
