It can happen every now and then. I had a flight on KL ORD-AMS last year which made it gate-to-gate in just over 7 hours. We were booking it across the Atlantic due to tailwinds.

I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable (and enough of an airplane nerd, given that I'm here on a.net :) ), but the one thing about airlines continues to perplex me is delayed baggage. Re: Updated: DL, VS boost summer flying between U.S. and U.K. in 2020

The timing for the new daytime JFK-LHR flight seems strange to me, not leaving until 10:30 am. Your day is shot anyway (not like many people are going to go to work for an hour at 7 am before going to the airport), and you don't land at LHR until 10:25 pm. UA's EWR-LHR flight leaves at 8:30 am, and ...

Curious if anyone knows: is Delta having trouble with the A220 fleet? I noticed upon arriving EWR last night that the A220 flight from DTW was cancelled. My flight was 2:25 late, mostly due to mechanical (APU, requiring a air start apparently all day). The same flight on Monday was cancelled, and a...

Given DTW's proximity to Canada, and the consequent volume of eastbound flights out of DTW that cross through Canadian airspace, I was wondering what sort of implications this has for DL's cost structure at the DTW hub. Does Canada charge ATC overflight fees for all flights that cross over Canada? I...

Re: Passports at Gate after US CBP Preclearance

The issue is that the passengers haven’t been granted entry. USCBP has the absolute right to rescreen any (or all) precleared flights at the US airport. That’s why precleared flights can’t operate to airports without some provision for passenger screening. Makes sense. How does that work for places...

This might seem like a silly question, but when you're flying back to the US from an airport with preclearance, why is it that you still have to show your passport to the gate agent upon boarding, given that you've already cleared immigration? I'm not sure what the right term is to describe the CBP process that you go through when departing STT, but in various trips from STT over the years, I've always wondered why STT has a full CBP station that you go through when departing, whereas SJU does not. The difference between LGA and JFK just isn't noteworthy enough to make a whole separate flight worthwhile - it's not nearly as significant a location difference as LCY vs. LHR. In the last year or two the DL/KL/AF JV has dropped service from EWR to both CDG and AMS (they've also dropped service from PHL to CDG). Atlantic City as a city is sadly in rough shape, and traffic otherwise to the Jersey Shore is largely driving distance (e.g. northern NJ/NY and PA) - so there's not a ton of air travel demand to the area. Furthermore, it's super seasonal. DL and UA have both tried to service ACY, but with no success...

When flying to the US on an international flight (other than from Canada/Mexico) on a US airline, government regulations require you do a security "interview" before you can check-in (or they catch you at the gate if you do OLCI and don't stop at the ticket counter). For example, DL has tw...
