Re: 737NG Pickle fork issue

Aviation Week is reporting that cracks have been found in other locations on the Pickle Forks and planes will have to be re-inspected. This is behind a paywall. https://aviationweek.com/commercial-aviation/new-issue-prompts-expansion-737-pickle-fork-checks?utm_rid=CPEN1000000897724&utm_campaign=...

Re: Goodbye BAC 1-11!

I worked for Mohawk in the late 60's and have lots of good 111 memories, including doing a single handed turn one night (offload only) when someone forgot to tell us about an extra section. Just don't let the baggage door latch miss the catch, or you'll wind up with the door on the ground.

Re: BOG gets USA pre clearance in less than a year

My name is on the list, someone else. At a minimum, I get pulled aside for 30 minutes. One time at JFK, it was 3 hours. That time, they said that it wouldn't happen again, but that hasn't been the case. Another time in DUB, it was an hour, which was getting me nervous because you never know how long...

Re: Aeroméxico E190 Accident in Durango July 31

I'd swear I see BOTH engines in that video. One at the very beginning, and another @ 1000ft further down. It would be very strange that both engines ended up on the same side of the runway. I think the video first shows the cowling and then the core from the same engine. I missed the second engine ...

Re: Eurocopter AS350 crash in New York's East River? How does a passenger bag cause this?

I have a question for someone who is familiar with helicopter operations and the floats. When the craft hits the water in a normal auto-rotation, how far into the water dose the craft normally go before the floats have a chance to take over and keep it on the water. Could the fact that there were no...

I'm not sure where you got those numbers. The city's population is about 28,000 and the metro area (Chemung County) is about 90,000. That does not include nearby Corning which is the headquarters of Corning Inc, (formerly Corning Glass Works). Corning alone used to feed a lot of business to ELM.
