https://www.flightradar24.com/DJT520/214ea632 Anyone know why a La Compagnie 757 is landing at IAD in a moment from Bordeaux, France? I'm assuming not new scheduled service, some kind of charter? Interesting. I was at IAD last night and thought I might my eyes had deceived me. According to FR24 it ...Jump to post

Any idea on the progress of construction of the IAD Polaris lounge. I was looking at the area that is fenced off on the south side of the C gates. Is that the spot? If that is it looks like nothing is started. They have definitely started. As of Monday night it looks like they piped in a connection...Jump to post
I had a great meal at Craftsteak (MGM Grand) last time I was in Vegas. I've also heard good things about Bazaar Meat (SLS) and SW Steakhouse (Wynn). There are SO many great options that are exclusive to Las Vegas I don't think there is any reason to try a chain like Fogo de Chao, The Palm, etc.Jump to post
The most likely routes for next year are definitely WAW-IAD on LOT Polish, TPE-IAD on EVA Air, or Swiss ZRH-IAD If Iberia was to grow in USA serving a new market then I’d place my bet on IAD-MAD by Iberia. LOT and IB were my 2 guesses. I also think we will see additional frequencies and destination...Jump to post
Favorite: IAD, MIA
Least Favorite: MAD (T4S to T4), BOS.
IAD-LHR would probably come first on AA. Why would they do that? Yes, they could do it because of the huge operation they run at LHR, but why? JV partner BA already flies multiple daily LHR-IAD flights and LHR-BWI which somehow also serves the DC area. They won't do it. Which makes the likely hood ...Jump to post
I always recommend visitors stay in Old Town Alexandria. It's right on the blue/yellow line for easy access to DC and just 2 metro stops south of DCA. The area is quite charming and there are plenty of restaurants/shops to explore. If the metro is not running well the weekend you are visiting you ca...Jump to post
Could it be a package of international flights from Dulles to support the 2 additional banks Kirby discussed over the summer? With the recent announcement of the new Polaris lounge at IAD I was kinda wondering the same, same article pointed to the fact they were considering going to a 6 bank operat...Jump to post

This has got to be another click-bait thread, to increase web traffic and page hits. Removing tin foil hat now... The author is the same as 'Thanksgiving, Turkeys, and Turkish Airlines.' So does Turkey's flag carrier do something special on Thanksgiving for its US routes, given that the holiday cen...Jump to post
Perhaps DL IAD-SEA is in anticipation of Amazon opening a second hq in DC? You've heard the same rumors I have then. The opening of HQ2 is a long way off. My guess is there's plenty of demand from the significant Boeing and Amazon presence in the Dulles Tech Corridor. Edit: Forgot to add my thanks ...Jump to post
The food looks a lot worse than PE on BA or AA transatlantic. Looks like Economy class meals at best. Otherwise, I enjoyed your report. I agree with you. I would have preferred less courses and traded the foie gras for a well executed main course. A little more variety besides Chicken or Pasta woul...Jump to post
Could it be United senses an upcoming downturn in the market and is positioning itself to take on A321s that less stable airlines (i.e. WOW) have committed to?Jump to post
I flew JOON Business from Paris to the Seychelles and your meal looks better than ours! LOL. Premium are allowed to use the AF lounge? The lounge at CDG was pleasant. We stayed at the Airport Sheraton for 1 night at $300; your hotel looks great. Is it in the Terminal? How much do they charge? I wou...Jump to post
My wife and I recently made a trip to Poland for our 2018 European Adventure. I will admit, Poland was never at the top of my travel bucket list but I can say I enjoyed the country, food and people. And as they say, it's not where you're going but how you get there that matters. That saying rang tru...Jump to post
Having just returned from WAW, KRK and WRO I too am surprised by the lack of non-stop connectivity to Poland from the US. WAW is an excellent airport to connect through and there are tons of North Americans in KRK. Would be interesting to see UA add EWR or IAD-KRK as the 787s come online and free up...Jump to post
Now, finally, I get how the moon buggies in IAD were designed for use. Go to 8:02 on this YouTube video. https://youtu.be/Q08QXnqIo1I You came in one end and went out the other. When was it changed to single entry and exit direction, and why? It’s such a chore to get people to the back of the buggy...Jump to post

3 hours on the ground is not enough time. You will probably short change yourself with 3 hours just at the museum.
And yes, I would Uber between the airport and the museum. There is a bus service but the Uber will help you maximize your time on the ground.
I have a 5 hour layover at CDG coming up. I booked a room at the YOTELAIR for a few hours so I could shower and catch a quick nap.
Great report! I used to live in Phoenix, worked at PHX for a bit and did my flight training out there as well.Jump to post

Anyone know why there's an AN-124 on the remote ramp next to 1L/19R at IAD? Even from the road a mile away that thing looks HUGE. It's been there for about a week now?! One flew in on Wednesday from either El Paso or New Mexico, I can't remember off the top of my head. I have an alert setup on my F...Jump to post
CLT has quite a few German companies in the area not just in the car business. The other huge piece is all the German sub suppliers for BMW in the GSP area (i.e. Dräxlmaier, ZF (also supplies other manufacturers), ThyssenKrupp, etc.). Daimler=Mercedes, Freightliner trucks. There are 4 Freightliner ...Jump to post
I think most enthusiasts like to focus on the proximity of DCA to downtown DC, but much of the working and traveling population of the DC area live in the suburbs surrounding the city. With increasing traffic on the roads headed into downtown during peak AM commuting times, BWI (and IAD) are more co...Jump to post
I am thinking about making a trip to Farnborough for the first time. I am interested in seeing the static displays of airliners vs. the aerial show aspect. Is it worth the trek across the pond and if so, are some days better than others? I noticed they have a Fab Friday ticket which was mentioned in...Jump to post
Would it make sense (for any airline, Norwegian or not) to run a double-daily (or triple daily?) narrowbody service, with decent business class upfront, on BRU-WAS (Dulles or Baltimore)? With all the politicians and lobbyists, etc., plying the route, some of them would value flexibility and direct ...Jump to post
I'm not sure I would read into the launch of IAD as a sign CX is looking to leave OW. I look at it as connecting HKG with city that has O&D demand and a large population of AA frequent flyers due to the hub at DCA. Many of whom used AA and QR to reach Asia previously.Jump to post
I have always wondered if AA could make a DCA/IAD hub operation work similar to what Delta does at LGA/JFK but I digress, I don't think the UA hub at IAD is going anywhere. I think a lot of the UA/IAD naysayers are largely unfamiliar with the pace of development in Northern Virginia and general traf...Jump to post
