PHL-ORF is an *easy* drive? In what world? Either deal with the awful I-95 corridor through DC/Balt/Richmond or take Route 1/13 and sit at 500 traffic signals. This is exactly the kind of distance that if the costs are right, it could do well with VFR. This! Not to mention quite a few people from P...

Jump to postI live on Capitol Hill, we occasionally get overflown by runway 4 departures. My anecdotal observations are that these are always regional jets, and always heading towards other Northeast airports (PHL, EWR, JFK, BOS, BDL, etc). The reason seems to be that in north flow, if you use runway 4, the pl...
Jump to postGreat report! My wife and I did a roomette from DC to Florida a few years ago. It was a great experience and I hope to do it again soon!

IAD’s growth will come through the addition of more banks. There is plenty of space outside of the megabanks that use every gate.
They are scheduled to take 23 A321s this year. Have to fly them somewhere. This is an impressive list of flights.
Jump to postJust a heads up, the article is from April 2023 when airlines were pushing Congress to include additional beyond perimeter slots as part of the reauthorization bill which passed in July.

Jump to postOn a funny note, I had a Delta a few weeks ago trying to beat both runway closures (1/19 and 15/33). His FMS had them landing at four minutes after. I gave them the best shortcut I could, let them redline all the way, but the computer still didn't give them hope and MWAA wouldn't delay the closure....
Jump to postYes. Potomac Consolidated TRACON. Thanks, but now you've spurred another question: "Consolidated"?? With what? In December 2002 Potomac Consolidated TRACON, located in Vint Hill VA, opened as Baltimore, Dulles, National (Washington?), and Richmond Approaches were all moved into one buildi...
Jump to postAA handed DCA-FLL over to B6 after the northeast alliance started up. Good to see them back on the route instead of having to fly to MIA.

EDI looks a strong market for DL. From JFK to to BOS and now ATL. My dad and I prior to Covid used to go on a golfing trip there in the summer. When we started looking for tickets in, D1 was ALWAYS sold out or tickets were 5-7k. Was always a bitter point for him as he loves flying premium. Ye...
Jump to postI'm not sure I see what value AS adds to UA. Hubs in SEA and PDX? A quick grab of narrowbodys is about all I can think of.

Hello everyone! Has there been any thought about creating a forum dedicated to IRROPS (diversion, cancellation etc.) threads? Maybe have guidelines for thread titles to make searching easier as well. I think this would be better than a massive diversion mega thread that would be difficult to search ...

I vacationed on Gran Canaria 2 years ago. I had an incredible time. Playa Del Ingles/Maspalomas/Meloneras reminded me a bit of Honolulu. The touristy area appears to have been struck by an anti-charm missile but once you get outside PDI the island is down right beautiful. Cute towns to explore such ...

Any idea on the progress of construction of the IAD Polaris lounge. I was looking at the area that is fenced off on the south side of the C gates. Is that the spot? If that is it looks like nothing is started. They have definitely started. As of Monday night it looks like they piped in a connection...
Jump to postI had a great meal at Craftsteak (MGM Grand) last time I was in Vegas. I've also heard good things about Bazaar Meat (SLS) and SW Steakhouse (Wynn). There are SO many great options that are exclusive to Las Vegas I don't think there is any reason to try a chain like Fogo de Chao, The Palm, etc.
Jump to postThe most likely routes for next year are definitely WAW-IAD on LOT Polish, TPE-IAD on EVA Air, or Swiss ZRH-IAD If Iberia was to grow in USA serving a new market then I’d place my bet on IAD-MAD by Iberia. IAD-LHR would probably come first on AA. Why would they do that? Yes, they could do it because of the huge operation they run at LHR, but why? JV partner BA already flies multiple daily LHR-IAD flights and LHR-BWI which somehow also serves the DC area. They won't do it. Which makes the likely hood ...
Jump to postI always recommend visitors stay in Old Town Alexandria. It's right on the blue/yellow line for easy access to DC and just 2 metro stops south of DCA.
