I saw the French Air Force A330 (a la Air Force One) in PHL this morning - it was parked over near the GA terminal.

Assuming it's for the UN Week in NY and parked in PHL for overflow from JFK. Is Macron attending?

Yikes - not good for AS. LAX was always going to be tough for AS with strong AA presence on both sides and NK dominating the LCC. In SFO, they were also competing with UA.

On the flip side, they've doubled SEA

It's unfortunate that PHL did not get TLV. But there are nice route/frequency additions. I think there is room for two airlines on PHL-KEF. Does anyone recall the number of cities flown by WN out of PHL at it's peak. Service was announced in 2003 with great fanfare but safe to say US and AA have really pushed them down to a small and niche operator. Didn't B6 only recently open up GYE from FLL the last 6 months or so? Great to see them add this route! And why does the Ecuadorian population in NYC skew towards GYE and not UIO? EQ for years bounced between UIO & GYE on their flights to JFK before recently dropping the route once the A332 left...

Just returned from a bachelor party PHL to SJU on AA and the fares were crazy at $550+ but we were unwilling to take the F9 flights are brutal times - good to see the new flight is a bit more 'normal'

And yes this would have been a great route for B6 to enter!

Only last week, I got lambasted for suggesting that US Airlines are not interested in MAN. To further cement this notion, AA then scrap MAN-ORD. It’s clear that TATL traffic from MAN cannot really support year-round service with the exception of NYC and Florida. All other routes are highly seasonal...

There are many parallels to air service to Iran and Cuba. European (Iran) and US (Cuba) airlines rushed to add service only to realize the demand is really not there and slowly begin withdrawing service...

AA is dropping PHLFRA entirely, it's buried in the release on the chart. The article also mentions AY adding HEL-LAX on 3/31/19. Well, there now is service to TXL...

LH is quite strong on the PHL-FRA market with tons of corporate traffic. SAP alone has among the highest volume between the Northeast and Germany

EWR could certainly work, even with a current A330, as many carries (EK included) take advantage of the metro NY population.

I'd actually like to see PHL added given their presence in JFK & IAD, this would support the population in MD, PA, and NJ

The 1-stop options via LVI (4 weekly) and VFA (3 weekly) will probably continue with E190...while the 3 nonstops will be with 737-800. I hear that American Airlines plans to retire their Airbus A330-300 fleet by the end of the decade, around 2019 Try next year, as in, a few months from now. The E190s will be retired in 2019.
