The job losses begin... MyTravel / Thomas Cook pilots have been advised of up to 100 pilot redundancies this winter as the airlines merge. Now subject to 3-month consultation but 100 flight deck would mean 8 to 10 aircraft going. Not a good weekend for those who've joined in the last couple of years...

Can't answer the first question but you have a reasonable chance of departing from Pier 6 (the new pier over the Air Bridge), around half of all BA2583/4 services have used a stand on the new pier over the first 20 days of August 2006.
