Adding Steamboat seems like a decent idea (although with the MAX how will they source it?), but to Denver??? That part makes no sense. There will be no local market at all and Southwest doesn’t even have a truly banked hub. This will lose tons of money based on any industry typical modern measure o...
Jump to postCOU-CLT Awsome news! should be enough demand for at least double daily. Easy connections to Florida and the SEC schools. Only problem might be a crowded terminal for an early morning departure. A new terminal is at least 2 years away
Jump to postWhy couldn’t DEN add more trains and increase frequency? I’ve been on the Atlanta train before and you need board quickly. The doors don’t stay open that long and that’s not a bad thing
Jump to postThe train system can't handle a Concourse D. How so? They could expand capacity if need be. The train pretty much runs at capacity through the heavy banks. There aren't many options to significantly increase train capacity. How does Atlanta handle the train issue? The layout is similar and they hav...
Jump to postThat’s an awesome link thanks
Does anyone know how many gates and flights the Piedmont hub was at its peak?
I know it’s been discussed before, but here goes. The major carriers thus far have been reporting record loads and revenue. Would it not make sense to keep flying some of the md80s while AA has 24 max 8s parked?
Nothing long term, but better than canceling 100+ flights a day.
Trans states or at least the same name is still flying erj’s for United out of DEN.
Wonder if they were a subsidiary of TWA at one time or just a subcontractor?
Looks like they are shutting down for a week. Bummed out. I was flying there this week. I’m surprised it takes a week to add some asphalt to even out the crown https://www.columbiamissourian.com/news/local/updated-american-and-united-cancel-flights-at-columbia-regional-airport/article_e414101a-5a24-...

Anyone hear anything about this?
Have they retired any 700s?
Jump to post35 parked Max 8s will mean a lot of cancelled flights
Jump to postDoes Southwest have any recently retired 700s that they could pull back into service?
Jump to postSee planespotters.net for fleet disposition. https://www.planespotters.net/airline/Eastern-Air-Lines/subfleet?manufacturer=McDonnell-Douglas&type=DC-9&fleetStatus=historic&p=3 So I see that TWA took several of the dc9-50s. Does anyone know if they were for expansion or were they replaci...
Jump to postKind of surprised they didn’t pull the ATRs out of STL after the American eagle atr crash near ORD
The weather isn’t that much different
Kind of surprised they didn’t pull the ATRs out of STL after the American eagle atr crash near ORD
The weather isn’t that much different
Thanks for the help
STL-SGF 10 daily md80,717,ATRs plus dfw and ORD flights
Quite a bit of service
Just watching an episode of Mayday air disaster focusing on the American Eagle ATR crash in the late 90s and it brought to mind TWAs ATRs in STL. Chicago has it’s share of ice but so does STL Does anyone remember the TWA ATR routes.? I know they didn’t have a huge number of them, but did they stick ...
Jump to postI believe STL had one of those movers back in the 90s. They used it to shuttle from mid c concourse over to d concourse (the old ozark gates
Jump to postActually AA just added a third COU-DFW and also a third COU-ORD last week. The 3 ORD flights are crj700s. United also has two crj200s to ORD for a total of 5 dailys to ORD. Two of the DFW flights are crj900s and one erj145. The market for air travel is strong in Columbia. Maybe AA is getting most of...
Jump to posthttp://www.columbiatribune.com/news/20180412/united-airlines-exhausts-revenue-guarantee They started with a 50% load factor. They have improved to the mid 60s. The round trip fares have been running around $350. Hopefully they continue this flight. I wonder what type of loads they would need to turn...
Jump to postDid AA have any service to gatwick before buying the TWA LHR slots in 1991? Correct me if I’m wrong, but were the TWA routes sold JFK, ORD, BOS, IAD to LHR?
Jump to postHow can they make any money flying 70 or so passengers halfway across the country? I know flying a larger aircraft is more expensive, but wouldn’t it be more profitable with 200 or so passengers?
Jump to postI know it’s no CLT, but I wonder how DCA and PHX do for AA
Jump to postWhatever happened to all of the old Reno Air service? Did.AA go back to just flying to the hubs?
Jump to postDFW-COU gets a third daily. Good deal! That’s on top of the three daily departures of United added last fall
Must be good demand in COU
Didn’t US Airways try to merge with twa in the mid 80s? Before Piedmont
Jump to postCunard wrote:Western Airlines DEN to LGW was called 'The Londoner' including decals on their single DC10-30 that operated on the route.
Thank you for this! Can't wait until they build more as well as increase the seating when the west end of A is expanded. Right now, it feels a little cramped.[/quote]
Didn’t they already add some gates on the west end of A when Delta moved over there?
I noticed DFW-COU is getting a 3rd daily starting 2/16 however I don’t see the flight starting 3/1
Weird
I'm wondering if Southwest would ever consider service to Springfield Missouri. They used to fly to Branson through the air Tran acquisition but discontinued service. All of the major carriers serve Springfield along with alleigent. The city and surrounding population is in excess of a half 1 millio...
Jump to postThey used to fly at least five a day on this route. They also used to fly seven dailies over to Kansas City. Those flights were always fall.
Jump to postAre they taking any more new 175s?
Jump to postMaybe as they retire The 145s and crj200s they upgrade to larger rjs . Large cities (MCI! STL, etc) would lose the RJ flights and shift to all mainline
Jump to postWouldn't surprise me at some point to see AA start a CLT flight. COU needs a link to the southeast. CLT would be a great addition. I wouldn't be surprised if Delta comes back if they had the room. The new terminal is at least 5 years away and that's a shame because the demand has been great. They c...
Jump to postUnited started service this week with 2 flights to ORD and one to DEN. These flights added to American's two flights to ORD and 2 flights to DFW. The need for a larger terminal is immediate. Previously the two American early morning flights filled the tiny terminal. Now between 5:30 and 6:30 am Both...
Jump to postI I've noticed that the flaps are extended way more on landing and of course slower speeds.
There has to be a reason
I'm not a pilot so excuse the question, but why don't pilots use more flap to take off on a hot day?
Jump to postDEN needs more gates as well. I know some were recently added for SW on Concourse C, but UA is also rapidly outgrowing Concourse B. They have started to have 1 departure from A and added 2 ridiculously long jet bridges to the end of B in order to get 2 additional gates. They still need some more. P...

Jump to postI flew out of Colorado Springs last week for the first time since the old Western Pacific days. How disappointed I was to see such a great facility so under utilized.
