Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

French minister Le Maire en dutch counterpart Hoekstra have cleared the air between them. Both party's said that they have the same intentions making AF/KL the best airline in the world. We can all go to sleep now. To me, as I have said before, this whole thing was no surprise to the French governm...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

93% of after-tax profit taxed at the standard corporate rate in the Netherlands is more than 100% of the same profit after the standard French corporate rate. Standard corporate tax rates are public (you can do the math). As are some of the many discounted rates in the Netherlands (far more than in...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

I don't doubt your real-life experience, and I knew that happened before you mentioning it. Where you go wrong is assuming your personal experience applies to AFKL. As I explained this doesn't make sense in their situation as unlike most other concerns they don't fully own their operations in The N...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

One thing I have been wondering about. Maybe someone here can shed some light on this. We keep on hearing that AF may 'undress' KL and that flights will be moved to CDG and the hub function of AMS is under threat. However what would be the logic behind that. Forgetting the profit argument for a mome...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

Great article about the process of coming to this decision. It is in Dutch, but with google translate, you should be able to follow it. https://www.volkskrant.nl/nieuws-achtergrond/hoe-kwam-het-kabinet-tot-aankoop-van-aandelen-air-france-klm-~b3ad492f/?utm_source=VK&utm_medium=email&utm_cam...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

I wonder what happened during the meeting with the Dutch ministers and Smith. Something must have triggered all this? Don't forget that most of the coalition parties in the Dutch government are against meddling in companies. Understood that KL is strategically important for the Netherlands more so t...

Re: Dutch government increases stock holding in KL-AF group.

Wouldn't DL want a bigger partner in Europe than just KL (even if they add AZ and VA)? It seems likely that if DL and the Dutch state decide to move KL out of AFKL and with DL, AF will not continue to partner with DL...

Re: Lufthansa Group announces to buy remaining shares of Brussels Airlines

I am no expert on this matter but I do live in Brussels and fly SN at least once a week, so this story interest me as a passenger. I am all for SN remaining a LH partner as this has obvious advantages for the frequent traveller, however, I am surprised to read that LH might want to integrate SN into...

RE: Is LHR Overrated (versus LGW)?

LHR can be quite a nightmare when changing flights, especially between terminals. I am sure this has been discussed before, but with the new T5 does BA fly all its flights out of this terminal? Or will you st...

Alitalia Takeover: Confirmed: AF-KL Selected!

I guess, right now we can only wait and see next week. Anyone has any ideas what AF will do if this deal falls through? They seem set to grow through buying, and now is the time for them to buy. IB looks like a lost case...

AF will not make a regional carrier of AZ, this would not be smart from the investment point of view. AF needs a strong third hub. OK, AZ<...
