Re: TAP Portugal News and Discussion Thread

Zagreb is also flown by Iberia for connections to the Americas (and IB is ultra-conservative and has pretty much 0 presence in that part of Europe other than Croatia) so TAP will try to replicate the same. Not only to the US but also to LatAm for people of Croatian descent. So nothing out of the bo...

easyJet, Ryanair and Wizz never closed their foreign Crew bases... I’m sure all 3 of those airlines have closed some bases at some point. Plus I think the threat is about an international airline having a base where crew join at the respective country to operate a flight. Ex: CX has a LHR base and ...

Plenty of airlines use coaches/steps to board pax even tho gate space is available. I boarded a B772ER on LHR-PVG at T5 recently on a remote stand using steps, it doesn’t mean the airline doesn’t ‘give a crap about mobility-impacted passengers’ Ambulifts are quite common. Why is TP not using a jetbridge in OPO? It is not like OPO has capacity limitations, as LIS does. Are they really that cheap, or do they just not give a crap about their mobility-impaired passengers? The article says BACF has a fleet of E195 which is wrong, E190

A220-100 is also LCY certified, the larger variant isn’t.

Would TP venture onto the lucrative Nigerian market?
I’m sure BA, AF/KLM offer plenty of daily flights to LOS/ABJ?
Maybe TP could get into that market by offering connections via LIS?
Plus USA-Nigeria market, now that they are getting a decent USA network?
Just a though.

I love those threads with the TAP lovers not facing reality. Reality is TAP had less passengers in Q1 in a very "healthy" market. Specially when OPO and LIS (TAP's two hubs) are growing strongly. If anything maybe PAX to Madeira or Faro are stagnant but that would be foreign carriers' los...

Wouldn't that decrease be related to the closure of the Vigo, A Coruna and Asturias routes? That is despite TAP being extremely aggressive for connecting fares out of MAD. I have also lately noticed that they are starting offering the same MAD-OPO-XXX fares with the new routes out of OPO. Also some...

Do they have a lower operating cost than TAAG or TP to offer lower fares?
Plus if they codeshare with TP as both are Star Alliance they could get some traffic from Brazil and North America?
