I think their problem in Fedex is not just that, us in Europe isnt that much better, we have had shipments from Dubai to the UK, it went to Delhi, sat there for a few days then went to Paris and then UK. It was only a few days late but around that week, DHL used two days to send something from HKG t...
Jump to postThe only difference is that on LH Group people still get some bottled water and a sweet treat for free, and this will not be given to BA or the LCCs. A subtle difference there.

Jump to postJust in time for the new year LX received their 3rd A320 NEO today, HB-JDC. I also noticed that the restriction for the A220's not to fly higher than 28'000 Feet was lifted recently, looks like they could fix the issues with the engines. Good news! I wonder if the manufacturer will be paying back s...
Jump to postHappy to see the 343 staying around for a while longer. They are still lovely birds - very comfortable. They have such an amazingly quiet cabin. They are a very relaxing aircraft to fly on, soooo much better than the 777. Too bad the 346 are gone though... I agree, just had a journey on one of thes...
Jump to postSorry if this has already been addressed in this thread and I missed it, but: If airlines are so swiftly phasing out their 4-engine aircraft (A380, B747), then why is LH hanging onto their A340 fleet for so long ? What I'm further asking is: What are the chances that they'll pull their A340s by the...
Jump to postI think the following from July is still accurate: Ref: https://simpleflying.com/airbus-a340-retirement/ So A350s are expected to replace A340-600, and other reports tell us all A340-600 are parked and not likely to return unless recovery happens significantly faster than planned. A340-300 will eve...

National lockdown in the UK from 5th November onwards. Uncertain how this will impact the aviation industry as non-essential travel both domestically and internationally will not be allowed.
Not going to talk about how different governments have acted to save the airline and travel industry, only going to talk about my own observations. When we were at CDG in August, the airport was reasonably busy and the Air France flights were all of healthy loads.

Jump to postThe problem is the British flying public in general don't care. They want cheap flights and are now used to paying for food and drinks on shorthaul flights. BA's competitors on intra-Europe shorthaul are not AF/KLM/LH but Easyjet and Ryanair.. .. Nothing to do with the British public....it applies ...
Jump to postLooks like he quit Don't think he stepped down. Looks like he was pushed out. Do either of you have any evidence for which it is? The truth is: we do not yet know. Jump to postIf Lufthansa, Air France, KLM.. can all offer a decent onboard product on intra-European flights then I see no reason why BA can't as well. Hopefully they drop BoB and replace it at least with free drinks. Agreed completely - the whole BoB thing is a shameful concept, for a 'premium' flag carrier. ...

I am not qualified to say whether LH is in any way deeper trouble than others - however, they are a much more diverse business and have quite a few dedicated freighters, which for the moment is bringing in the revenue. And the less requirement for them to fly passenger planes for cargo only flights....
Jump to postAnd a final factor is that many of the airliners still flying at the other airlines have been stripped of their seats and converted to improvised cargo aircraft. Lufthansa already has a large fleet of 15 dedicated cargo MD-11s and 777Fs. AF-KLM has a combined total of 6 dedicated cargo aircraft, IA...
Jump to postOur booked flights to HKG from FRA in November have been changed from a 747-8 to 340-300. Not that I am complaining but this suggests that the 340-300 will be here until at least the end of this year. Understandably, the 747-8 is a much bigger aircraft and the 340-300 is not a bad plane for all the ...
Jump to postSurprised by by the difference between LH and AFKL. Jump to postGreat report! I have been on LX's A220 a few times and I agree that the silver trim around the seats look nice! The windows are big too. I have not been on their business class but I did enjoy the few occasions in economy. Their crew are usually nice and when I flew with BA just when they started to...
Jump to postOn this topic, I am interested whether a fix is available yet, so that these planes (at least those with the higher engine thrust) are no longer going to be limited at FL280.
Sorry to be hijacking your thread
Well done to the pilots. But the news reporting is low standard - engine hitting the PAVEMENT. But then perhaps we cannot expect these reporters to know the piece of land for the plane to land is called the 'runway'. Most people know, may be not the reporter.
Jump to postCX surely has the most complicated situation to resolve on top of covid, and most of them could be related to elements involving politics and how the economy is going to survive with the backdrop of China vs USA and the sanctions going forward.
Jump to postVery nice report, thanks for sharing!
One thing you could do next time for the boarding passes, is to either get one downloaded onto the phone (and keep the paper copy) or visit a check in kiosk and get another one printed. This way, you will have an unteared boarding pass to keep.
My last trip on one of the LX's A220 was in September 2019, and the altitude restrictions were in place already. Clearly, flying it especially when the loads are pretty light at low altitude is not ideal from a fuel efficiency point of view, but I do not have any data to back it up. They usually fly...

I've been on delayed LX327s before (scheduled arrival from LHR 21:30), that have gone to E gates to enable transfers on the departures around 22:40 to SIN, GRU, BKK, HKG and TLV - with the 23:00 curfew, transiting from D Gates would have been pushing it time wise, otherwise. But with the inbound Ai...

Jump to postHello,
Anyone have any idea why the HB-JNE operated the LX180 from ZRH to BKK on 20th Feb has diverted to Baku? Seems a very strange place to divert a 77W?
It stayed there for some 24 hours before continuing.

Hello
I would like to find out if there is any information on Asiana's 767-300, as I know they are circa 20 years old but I heard that the cabin has never been retrofitted. Is this true?
