Re: A320-21 NEO Ground noise

I live under the approach path for runway 24 at MNL (planes are usually at an altitude of 2,000-2,500 feet,) and I do hear that weird echoing rumbling/howling, too. The usual "suspects" are PR and 5J's A321neos. It's most likely an engine-related issue (Pratt & Whitney). Some people ha...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2020

Is anyone else here getting fed up with all the negativity towards the Philippines here on A.net? PR's upcoming CEB-LAX and MNL-SEA flights are being discussed in another thread and as usual, the responses are quite negative with the usual "trash yields" and "VFR traffic" talking...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

Considering anti-"A" sentiment was strong in that website long before the current administration even started, I wouldn't attribute it to simple "brainwashing". Though I wonder if it's a coincidence or not that some of the most vocal anti-"A" users there only registere...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

I don't mean to be political or anything, and my observations are just conjectural, but I really can't help shake off the feeling that the negative sentiment many over at SSC have for NAIA may be at least partly due to disdain for the family of the person the airport is named after though. Could ju...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

Meanwhile, with all the latest news on NMIA, it sounds interesting that they emphasize that NMIA will "decongest" rather than "replace" NAIA and they even said that the people will have "the choice of choosing NAIA, NMIA, and Clark for flights" (to paraphrase reports)....

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

The latest artist renders (not necessarily final) for NMIA are the ones released thru Inquirer, which includes the render of the photo in the background during the signing. The pixelated photo on that blogpost is not representative of NMIA at all. That blurry photo was actually posted on the offici...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

I'm actually kind of surprised that the MNL-Koror service has been able to survive for so long, even if it's only for two weekly flights or so. Is there really that kind of demand for flights to Palau from Manila? Palau actually has a large Filipino population (OFWs). Filipinos are the second large...

Re: A321neo operators alerted over 'excessive pitch' anomaly

I wouldn't know anything about this "excessive pitch anomaly", but one thing I noticed about A321neos is this strange sudden sound the engines make - it's sounds like a whale's mating call or something. My house is directly below the path of airlines coming in to land at my city's airport,...

Re: Philippine Aviation Thread - 2019

They also keep saying that the Philippine market is price sensitive, which might not be wholly accurate since PR's domestic and regional operations (where 5J is their primary competition) are actually profitable, meaning they seem to underestimate premium demand in the Philippines. Isn't this the g...
