AS taking out an another carrier in the state of Alaska that many depend on is not a good look for them. It would be akin to how some saw Hawaiian after the demise of Aloha, although completely different and wrong for many reasons. AS would be wise to stay in THEIR lane and not the other way around

Not my problem. It becomes your problem if it results in higher fares, the reason airlines like these can be as cheap as they are is that they don't have any unnecessary costs. Unnecessary costs like, you know, landing fees and refueling fees at a port they didn't plan on being at? So much for that!

One thing to note is that the aircraft in the pic linked above on X is of N780HA. The delivered airplane was N781HA, the second of the HA 787's (obvs they look the same livery-wise)

My understanding is that 780 is at VCV getting some work done of some kind (no details of what that is)

Took the 145a scheduled HA departure from LAS many, many times. Arrives in HNL at 5 or 6a depending on the season. Absolutely brutal...no amount of Visine would take the "red out"!

The islands are heavily dependent on HA to transport daily basic necessities. If HA replaced 717 with ATR-72, it will not be able to provide enough belly lift during normal flights so they would need to convert ATR-72 into all cargo flights at night.
