Re: NYC-Asia DL vs UA

A good route for Delta to Asia from New York JFK non-stop would be Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur as they have the 777-200LR which has the range to do those flights. JFK-BKK/KUL.. really? MH (EWR via ARN) and TG (non-stop on the A340-500) can barely make it work. So why should DL? DL is conservative and a...

Re: DL closing NRT. Suspends NRT-SIN, Announces ICN-MNL

I strongly believe that what DL needs is to fly JFK-ICN on their own metal. Whether that means a 3rd daily JFK-ICN flight or taking over one of the Korean flights, I think that is essential to have. I agree with FSDan that DL doesn't necessarily need to serve JFK-ICN and v.v but rather increase the...

Re: Unconfirmed: DL closing NRT. Suspends NRT-SIN, Announces ICN-MNL

There may be a strong business case but can DL compete with CX's 3x daily HKG-JFK and 1x daily HKG-YVR-JFK and 1x daily HKG-EWR in addition to UA's daily EWR-HKG? That's the real question. Why would DL want to fly JFK-HKG? What’s the business case to support it? DL has been very public about wanting to be the preferred carrier for New Yorkers. NYC-HKG is a major route for the Finance industry, which is obviously one of the most important segments of the New York economy. Hence, there...
