As I work in security, we get positive readings quite a lot. but turns out to be quite innocent.
nitroglycerine as said above sets off our machines as does peroxcide and garden fertilizers.

As the topic says... Why the ding (seatbelt sign noise) just after takeoff?? It seems to go as the landing gear is being retracted. I don't think it's for the cabin crew (i.e. safe to go about your business type of thing) Cos they get a ding shortly after for that. Just a thought Cheers Stu... ...

Landing Gear Retraction
When an aircraft has just taken off and the gear is retracting, does the pilot apply the brakes??
Or does the wheels just keep spinning in the gear wells until they come to a stop themselves??
