Because it is so close to London with great transport options into the city. Travel to Gatwick would require, for a lot of people, driving on the M25 motorway which is slow and tedious.

Looks like it's about 2,000 miles of river from Minneapolis to New Orleans. The river runs at about 1.2 mph according to the interwebs. Assuming the grape stays in the flow it would take about 1,660 hrs which is about 70 days.
