A 777 or any other twin can fly with just one engine. It certainly cannot operate efficiently. Example: A 330 which loses one engine has a max level of approximate 43 minus the gross weight in thousands. In other words, if you're at 200 tons your max sustainable altitude is approximately 23000 feet...

The problem that article had nothing to do with barrel production, but was a midfit caused by the way internal structure was installed, causing the barrels to be slightly out of shape. It was nothing but fine tuning of the assembly process.

The fact that the stage even got to the barge is pretty promising. It survived an extremely energetic re-entry and managed to fly back and hit the spot. Hopefully, they got enough pieces to figure out if it took too much damage or just couldn't complete a good landing as low as it was on fuel.

The increase could be from a change in reporting after the issue was bought to light. Both instructions to report any incident that might fit the definition and increasing the range of incidents that would be included.
