I noticed that in the article they list 31 long haul aircraft for NW, only mentioning 747-400's and A330s...no mention of the DC-10's that are still operating.

I had thought the A380 rather ugly on the ground, but I must say it is a lot more attractive in the air!

Go to DCA and then just walk from the terminal to Gravelly point, its pretty sweet and its only like a 10 minute walk...then theres the subway to get across the river and explore downtown.

Many local newspapers will outline the holiday light hot-spots. The Grand Rapids Press has an entire section devoted to it in the Sunday paper for the month of December. That may help you to find good neighborhoods to fly over.
