How about 787 issues. Next week, I am traveling on UA 1, SFO to SIN, which is a B789. Twice in the last 2 weeks, the flight has been cancelled due to mechanical issues! Obviously, we do not know if the problems are a fault of either UA or Boeing. But still, that is a pretty crappy track record!

Looking at the photos of the plug opening, there are what appears to mounting brackets, and they have no visible marks or damage. If they hold the plug in place, were there bolts in place? ANC wingspan restrictions

Earlier today, December 15, ANC was restricting A/C with a wingspan of 210 feet or more. Except for Amazon, UPS or FedEx! This is according to the FAA website. Can someone explain the reason? Thanks.

Boeing’s Everett factory

Now that the 747 is finished, 787 production sent to South Carolina, and wind down of 777 production, only the 767 is left! And the 77X is in limbo. Kind of sad! Add in the regulatory issues with the MAX 7 and MAX 10, and you wonder if Boeing will still be making planes in 10 years!

Yes, Brussels Airport is functioning quite well. My wife and I flew thru there last week and had no issues (or wait) with either customs or immigration. Much better than dealing with Schipol!

What happened to the 5G problem?

When 5G rolled in out February, there was all this drama about airplanes crashing due to interference with radar altimeters. Haven’t heard or read anything since then. Even crazier is that the best 5G speeds that I have encountered has been at my home airport, SAT!

I find that Airbus planes, both wide body and narrow body, are quieter than the equivalent Boeing plane. Why? Not sure, but maybe better insulation between fuselage and the cabin panels? Surely someone on A Net knows why!

The MAX has been back in service for 6 months. I have not seen anything in the media about Pax refusing to fly on it. It seems as though the 2 previous crashes have been forgotten here in the U.S. Is this because COVID and unruly passengers have become the focus of flying concerns?

AUS also captures a large number of passengers who come from San Antonio, because SAT has limited destinations. Many people here will drive to AUS to avoid having to connect in ATL, DFW, HOU or IAH.

This is the third time in several months that this flight has diverted while enroute to SAT. On each of those occasions, the weather and operations at SAT were normal. Does anyone know why? Seems too often to be a coincidence.

Another “benefit” of bankruptcy is that Boeing becomes the victim and no longer the villain. I like Boeing, and did the Everrett factory tour (again) last September. But, I think that they have really stepped deep into the doodoo this time, and recovery is a long way off.
