Wouldn't that be crazy expensive at an airport like LHR ? Or is parking on the apron not the same cost as a gate slot (ie: do the airlines only pay for the time they are using a gate?) Looking at the timetable, in the same timeframe there are changes to a flight to Dhaka, the other flight to Islamabad, both flights to Lahore and the flight to Sialkot. It doesn't seem to have been picked up yet with any flight tracking sites. Flightstats seems to be predicting it's over the middle of Libya, but on other sites Libya is empty of planes apart from on the coast. In Ireland there's the Foynes Flying boat museum on the River Shannon (on the other side of the river from the present airport). The original terminal still exists, where the museum is. We drove past it a few years ago, but were heading to Dublin for a boat so didn't stop and visit. Maybe next time....

I expect, for operational reasons, it was easier to have a plane go back to where it started so it could be used on another service rather than have it tied up at the "wrong" airport for a long time and screwing up the next flight and the next flight it would have been used for.

Was it taken through the airport window? There seems to be a blue cast to the image, and airport windows can be tinted. Was that the whole image or has it been cropped a certain amount? With a focal length of 70mm you may be a bit short. Have you got the camera set to the best image quality settings...
