"New SAN-Hawaii spin I heard today is that the NG800 is Too Heavy going west. So basically NO MAX NO SAN-Hawaii ???? Flyguy AS seems to have no issues. Every flight I've done westbound has had plenty of room for the required extra fuel for SAN-HI - even with winter winds. The only issues I've e...Jump to post
Seems to me this is the ripest time that it’s going to get for Southwest to acquire or merge with another carrier. The MAX “catastrophe” is the perfect case to be made to labor groups within WN and federal regulators.

Positions in open time have begun appearing in the flight attendant’s scheduling software starting April 1st. Curious about WN's 737 inter-island flights. Isn't one of the reasons 717s are so indispensable for Hawaiian that the engines need less time to cool before taking off again on such short low-altitude hops compared to other mainline jets? How has WN found a way around the engine cooling problem with...Jump to post
All initiated by the fine folks at AMFA. How did that end up at Northwest Airlines, AMFA? First of all - no. Second, why you find it funny that any airline may be "unravelling"? Third - did you actually read the article you linked? Is any new airline route instantly profitable? Isn't long...Jump to post
Their no Rush to getting it out tomorrow. With the company Dallas Rally Monday. It's perfectly timed for a party time announcement which makes it perfectly timed for a Mid Hawaiian Time announcement. I see that WN has a disproportionate amount of flights compared to all the other carriers combined...41 to 81. Is Southwest allowed more flights because they fly mostly intra-California routes? Also, does the County determine flights allocation based on aircraft capacity? DL has several 757s (DTW &...Jump to post
Interesting that you are choosing to throw around some large rumors still.... Edit: It looks like you posted a screenshot of an internal email earlier in the thread. Where did you get this from if you aren't employed by WN? I have several friends that work for WN. Ah yes see this is the issue. 1) T...Jump to post

I actually don’t think it is very likely. And I’m just repeating what everyone is talking about at Southwest today. If you don’t like a post on here, you are more than welcome to scroll on by without being rude. Are you allowed by WN to post such things here? I would assume that you did sign a NDA ...Jump to post
No offense, but regardless of what your 'sources' are, this is one of the stupidest 'rumors' I've seen on this board. Especially for the reasons other posters have stated in debunking your original post. Mods: please lock this thread, because there is, in my personal opinion, zero credibility to th...Jump to post
Yet that's exactly what happened when they acquired AirTran. Although there are many other reasons why a WN/HA pairing will never ever happen. The difference is, HA uses them for a very specific capability that AT didn't. The 737 is incapable of doing what the 717 does in Hawaii? Serious question, ...Jump to post
If the OP can't name a source, the only place the rumor exists is in their head. So many useless conversations started just for the purpose of starting debates. The OP is drawing a wild conclusion from two separate stories. The first WN is freezing hiring because of planned capapcity cuts not a buyout of HA. Rising oil and falling RASM will do that. The second is a baseles rumor that Delta is getting 25 more 717s. So the OP put both unrelated stories toget...Jump to post
Rumors swirling again that Southwest is looking to merge or acquire Hawaiian Airlines as the company has announced internally that they are ceasing all hiring effective immediately.
Rumors on Delta Airline pilot forums that Delta will be securing approx 25 717’s from another carrier.

wnflyguy do you still expect something like announcement ect. before christmas / new years ? It has been in the oven for 15 years............. This is important. Also, as we just saw at LAX, T1 and T2 are not going to host the same airlines forever. LAX is planning for the future and building in flexibility that is desperately needed. Not really understanding the point in investing nearly half a billion dollars to connect two airlines that will never even codeshare with each other.
Am I missing something?

Just means more pax will be standby. With WNs liberal change policies not "overbooking" would be financial suicide. Aren't the big 3 going away from in seat video for domestic routes? They seem to be moving to personal device video for flights I have been on. I've noticed lately that when pricing out tickets from the NYC area, Southwest is just as much, if not more, than the US3 + regionals B6 ad AS. Considering that the advantages that Southwest offers in product are mainly policy related, Alaska can match pretty much any perk that Southwest has to offer with a flick of a pen. WN needs to focus on improving their product. They can tie their shoes and chew gum at the same time. \WN just told all of it's A-listers that it is changing it's same day standby policy. I'm just not really confident with wn's ambitions in FLL. Gate checking is down dramatically over two or three years ago. I was on a full 733 LAX-BNA, a flight where virtually everyone has a bag because of the length, a month ago or so and we left with space in the bins.
