Any light is good to shoot in as long as you know how take advantage of it.
This is one of the big challenges in photography. Shooting only in "good light" is a recommendation for those who have problems with the above. That's my belief anyway.

A tip for getting a god reference to what part of the the histogram that corresponds to what part of the image is to hold down Alt when moving the sliders for black- and white point. I don't consider an ejection safe regardless of what speed it is carried out at. Since ejection is a last resort to stop the pilot from meeting the same faith as the aircraft when shit hits the fan what good would an upper speed limit do? No doubt that chances of survival at M2.0 are smaller than at...

Sorry, I was referring to blown highlights. Both suffer from this. Regarding exposure the sky will have a deeper blue in the second shot because the a/c is higher in the sky, this will give different histograms. Looking at the exposure of the a/c itself there is virtually no difference at all in lum...

If you shot it in RAW try changing the wb to daylight. Auto can kill the "mood" that the colours of a low sun give.

135 mm is better as a short telephoto for low light.

I'd also go for a used lens if I were on such a tight budget. A used 75-300 USM in pretty good condition shouldn't set you back more than about 100 Euros.
