The reconstruction work of the spotter platform at Frankfurts runway 18 has finally begun. During the construction work no access is possible. In 6 to 8 weeks the new platform should be available.

If rwy25 is in use for landing I would recommend to walk to the photo platform. There you have the sun in the back until around 4pm. It's not Canon or Nikon or Sigma - the issue is getting sharp shots at 400mm with an f5.6 zoom lens. You need quite some skill and practice and you need to understand the limitations of the lens. I prefer my Nikon 70-200/2.8 for sharpness, speed and bokeh but I love my Nikon 80-400 for it's flexibil...

An additional question for tripod and light meter users: How do you use a light meter for night shots at the airport ? Doesn't the light meter get fooled by all the different light sources and reflecting lights and with the plane maybe completely different illuminated as the spot you are standing ?
