In regards to specifically the 777X, I expect it to split it's specific market with the A35K pretty evenly. Those who are going for growth and market share and/or busier airports will lean 777X. Those who are looking to maximize what they have will lean A35K. I think it's more complicated than that...

There are a good number of 787-9's and A350-900's out there that are frankly superb aircraft, soon to be joined by 787-10's and A350-1000's which will be equally superb.
