A lot of the recent orders are slated for delivery over the next 10 years ahead so unlikely a rate increase is required. However deliveries so far this year are nowhere near 9 a month.

Part of the Korean/Asiana merger agreement gives Virgin a LHR-Seoul route. However they don't want to operate it until they can overfly Russia due to time. That's probably also why they aren't looking at other Asian routes.

IAG will need to factor in the same "diversion risk" as AF/KLM. Over the next 25 years anywhere long haul east or south of LHR could suffer restrictions on airspace access for political or military reasons, in contrast to routings west of LHR. I think that points to 789 or 359/10 orders, ...

There must be a reason airlines that have A359s such as SIA are also using the B78X, if the stats were that close on medium range performance there would be no point having both.
