BLR total demand is definitely much less including in J when compared to BOM and DEL, but higher than MAA to Europe/USA. However having flown on BOM-FRA flight many times, I found that the flight to be half empty many times especially mid week.

First there is the DOJ which under this admin (surprisingly) has been reluctant to approve large mergers, a simple robust code share and reciprocal frequent flyer agreement between AS and B6 would be sufficient and even that I am not sure of DOJ will approve on some of the hub to hub flights.

I have been researching Iceland for a visit and I don't find it very expensive either, one can find a 3 start hotel for 140 to 160 range and car rental for about 50 to 60 range per day. Food is up to the individual and can vary widely. Not everyone wants to eat in high priced restaurants every day.

One of the downfalls of relying on a single manufacturer. You save on parts but in times like these it will be difficult. In addition with no interlines, it will be a rough few months for SW customers. I booked a flight myself and generally avoid SW, but did it anyway.

UA flights from BOM and DEL are the worst affected. UA is not transiting Iran for the most part and now is unable to transit Pakistan, so all flights from BOM and DEL have to make a stop. However AI is still operating nonstop from BOM to Newark as it takes advantage of Iran airspace.

AA would try some thing safe like PHL- DEL, as DL is flying to BOM. Don't think they have the guts to try PHL-BLR especially for their first city to India. Some one like UA should try EWR-BLR (even 4 times a week) will probably succeed.

Lots of Americans go to Egypt ? Last time I went which was about 3 years ago to Cairo, there were hardly any tourists. Americans (except for VFR) don't travel very far for tourism in general anyway as compared to Europeans or even Canadians.

Thailand is generally a safe place to fly. If Thailand can pass European and other standards, why not FAA. Thailand is not overly concerned about loss of US certification as most of the passengers from US connect at some other point.

While China airlines dump fares on the international market, on the domestic side the fares are still reasonable enough that the carriers can make a little money and unlike in India where the domestic market has vicious competition with frequent capacity dumping and selling below the cost.

If I was AI I would veto EY 's entry into Star. While EY is not strong in the US it is still a competitor as it flies to several cities in India. Also I don't see what LH will get out of letting EY into Star, as it is they interline with EY for the few connections/cities they offer.
