A lot of people have suggested KRDU needs airline service to places like CHS, MYR, AVL, etc. Silver would be PERFECT for this endeavor...I wonder if they'll ever make it one state north.

It doesn't happen anymore, but I've been on a DL 763 flying from MIA-FLL. You literally climb out, and are immediately on final after a couple of quick turns.

With AUS landing KLM 3x per week, I wonder if RDU was at least in the discussion for similar service. AUS and RDU are similar as DL focus cities...and they're up to 5 TATL flights now. I dropped my wife and son off for a flight to Orlando at 5 a.m. I know it's fairly common for many aircraft to be on remote stands in the morning. However, I was surprised to see how many were at RDU. Does anyone know exactly how many aircraft RON at RDU?

I guarantee you no one is going to drive from Detroit to Cleveland to take an EI flight to Dublin. I live in the RDU area (used to live in the FLL/MIA -- as well as CLE -- areas). I have kicked the tires on a TATL flight, and considered driving to IAD or BWI for much, much cheaper flights to Europe...

I see a Skywest Flight #5691 on an E175 from BOI-ORD, too, which is just a tick shorter than BOI-IAH. And technically...the flights on UPS -- BOI-SDF and FX -- BOI-MEM are longer, but that's obviously not PAX OPS.

FWIW, the 'BIG' announcement two years ago on Facebook 'live' was Virgin America to SFO (March 9, 2017) and it seems like they also did Delta's RDU-AUS on the same day.

Last February they announced F9 'live' on Facebook moving to 15 destinations from RDU...adding BUF, HOU, MKE, MSY, SAT and SJU.

Looks like AA70, the B777, took off, and then a FX1346, an A306, was right behind it for departure. For a brief second, it was like the 80's or early 90's at KCLE - lol. Because the existing situation is an embarrassment for an international gateway...it basically hasn't changed since JAT had DC-10s to Ljubljana and Condor had DC-8s to Warsaw in the 1980's.

I know everything costs money...but send the international flights to Concourse D -- convert the smaller gate areas to handle larger aircraft and build an overhead, covered walkway to the main terminal -- and/or build a roadway and baggage claim at Concourse D where people do not even need to traver...

On Delta.com's interactive map - if you look at routes flown from RDU, MSN (Madison - Dane Co., WI) comes up. I am assuming this is an error, as that's a rather oddball flight. But maybe I missed an announcement?

I was coaching baseball in Rolesville tonight - and saw the DL 763 climbing out east on the way to CDG and told my six-year-old third baseman to look up, and asked if he knew where France is...because that's where they are going - lol. True story.
