How much does OK pay annually to be a member of Skyteam? They can keep codeshares, but do they really need to be in ST?Jump to post
I dont suspect DL is just going to abandon the idea just because AA called "dibs" and put a schedule together. AA may have gotten Oracle to come along, but im sure DL will add some other big name contract and the battle will be on. Maybe DL should go to SAT :) Its really hard to see how D...Jump to post
Can anyone give me a breakdown on the number of gates used by AA/AS and I guess B6? Very cool they got Oracle involved: “Austin is a vibrant technology hub where companies like Oracle are growing, investing and innovating for the future,” said Rita Visser, Director of Global Travel Sourcing, Oracle....Jump to post
Key word is eventually . When is "eventually"? - ??? Current lease prohibits AA from using T5 gates for relocation of Eagle (the past year has been with a LAWA granted exception). I thought the main demand AA had for the removal of the nest was that Eagle moves to T5. If thats not the cas...Jump to post

What about CAY, French Guiana? It would be interesting to see. I wonder how much traffic there is between CAY and MIA. AA could have an advantage over the AF connection in PTP if there is sufficient demand. I wonder this will impact Surinam Airways flights to Miami which make a stop in Aruba from P...Jump to post

LOThansa. Some other words that come to mind.... cold, industrial, minimalist, unimaginative, clinical.
To be fair, I thought the same about the previous livery, and about the airline as a whole. With the exception of the 748 fleet, nothing about LH inspires me to fly them.
So for 20+ years some people have been saying a pandemic is coming, so airlines should have been better prepared? Which means they should have sat on 10's of Billions in cash for the last 20+ years for when the "predicted" pandemic hit? Yes, they should have been more prepared, especially...Jump to post
No one could have predicted a Global Pandemic. Complete nonsense!!! I really wish people would stop saying that. Virologists, epidemiologists, biologists, and various research institutions have been predicting this for the past two decades at least. The truth is the airlines had poor business conti...Jump to post
They tried this before with Deutsche BA and failed. So I doubt they will try it again. Deutsche BA was just a feeder airline back when BA stupidly believed all roads went through LHR. I would hope that IAG had better sense and created a real airline that flew to NA, Asia,.... nonstop from FRA and/o...Jump to post
I don't understand any IAG attempt to buy OS. Wouldn't the better strategic option be to buy Condor then rejig their leisure orientated routes/destinations and have an actual presence in the heart of Germany. IAG had a chance with AB but blew it. It seems they want to repeat that mistake.Jump to post
I thought I remember AA being involved with AR around that time. Am I mistaken?Jump to post
Here are some options: 2) Government can then put money in through buying slots from Virgin at LGW and LHR at 20% discount to the average price paid for slots at both airports during 2018/2019. The Government can then retain the slots and sell them on at a profit to compensate for lost interest whe...Jump to post

Not that important. Delta could essentially just replace all the USA-LHR with their flights and take the slots. Not much left of VS after that. What makes you think Branson (51% owner) would just let DL strip VS of its slot portfolio? Sorry but DL becomes a small player in LHR if VS collapses.Jump to post
It looks as though there's a real possibility that HA could lose its Australian and UK partners by the time this crisis is over. My question is what are HA's partner possibilities if that happens? HA seems to have burned any bridges with QF after they opposed the AA-QF JV. Qantas didn't want to code...Jump to post

It looks like Tigerair is done. https://simpleflying.com/virgin-australia-tigerair-pilots/ SQ had three goes at the Australian market through equity and failed dismally at all attempts. This should be compare to WWII, where life would resume after a huge one-off disruption. So don't get me wrong. The disruption will be significant. Has anyone already mentioned this article about Richard Branson investing over 200 million pounds in Virgin? https://www.ft.com/content/4010625e-6c5a-11ea-89df-41bea055720b The problem is that the cash infusion will be split amongst the entire Virgin group and not VS entirely. Here we go again with the map-readers and the usual "PHX is between LAX and DFW... it should be dehubbed" nonsense. I asked this in the Delta thread, but I think it was too early for any answers. What does this mean for UA in LAX and their expansion into T9? Will those plans be delayed, or abandoned? If they plan on a smaller operation post-Corona, how much of T7/T8 will go unused? What was the outcome of those r...Jump to post
But this codeshare agreement between PR and AA, that would also pave the way for the former, as the other forum suggest their long-awaiting entry into Oneworld. - LA Area - I think they will consolidate around LAX. I'm probably optimistic here, but I think they will get all the gates they need at LAX (maybe 6 to 8 gates in total) over the next few years.
Don't shoot the messenger but maybe we need to bring back the CAB. Treat airlines like Utilities. Somebody should start that thread - "Time to bring back the CAB?" No because they will be joining oneworld soon and American should be able to fulfill their needs. The problem is that AA doesn't fly ANC-Asia without some serious backtracking. Meh. Color me disappointed. The new blue uniforms are so generic, and come a little too close to looking like a Delta's "Barney purple" uniform.
