Re: 30+ Year Old Aircraft in Scheduled Passenger Service

I know there are a TON of 30 year old A320's with Air Canada and Lufthansa in regular service. It's what people think they know - but don't - that gets them into trouble. According to planespotters.net, AC's oldest active 319/20/21 is from Jan. 1990. LH's oldest 319/20/21 is from Oct. 1989. These w...

Re: 30+ Year Old Aircraft in Scheduled Passenger Service

FWIW, AA has 1 MD-80 that's 30, but the rest of the active fleet is only 20

Could that be the only 30 year old bird flying regular passenger service that's NOT a 757/767/A320?

30+ Year Old Aircraft in Scheduled Passenger Service

Hi, Wondering what airlines still operate planes in regular passenger service that are 30+ years old. Are there any 30+ year-old aircraft in regular passenger service that are NOT 757/767/A320? I know there are a TON of 30 year old A320's with Air Canada and Lufthansa in regular service. AA and DL h...

Re: Can AA Reactivate MD-80's to fill in for MAX8's?

Can AA reactivate the 727-200 to solve the MAX problems? I really hope SW to load some 732 into Texad routes to free one or other 73G.   Neither aircraft AA 727's or WN 732's owned by the airline anymore, and even if they were, they would all be due for D-checks by now. Does WN have...

Re: Can AA Reactivate MD-80's to fill in for MAX8's?

I wouldn't hold my breath on the MAX's being back in a week or 2. Also, this debacle will likely delay future deliveries of new 737's for years to come. A week or 2 in the shop is nothing! Sounds like a routine C-Check (every 2 years), which is not very costly (around $100,000 at AA I think), which ...

Can AA Reactivate MD-80's to fill in for MAX8's?

AA only has a few MD-80's left in service, but tons parked in the desert. What would it take to bring these back in service? Is it possible they would do it? Since the retirement is very recent (and not even complete), I'm sure they have plenty of crew adequately trained on MD-80 to re-activate 24 o...

Technically, the 767 gets more credit for the rear doors also being Type-A size like the front. You get 110 passengers for each set, so that's 220 right there before the overwings. You get an additional 35 pax for each set of overwings type III door, so maximum pax is 255 with 1, 290 with 2 overwing...
