Re: Bombardier Wins C-Series Case at ITC

What is known for sure is the loss of a 6.3 Billion CAD contract for 18 Super Hornets. Boeing spun the wheel and lost on double zero: ensured the survival of a competitor and pissed off a defence customer. Those were for interim planes. Canada will take as many as 88 fighters in the next decade, so...

Re: Analyst predicts Airbus will eventually terminate CSeries program

Interestingly, Airbus is trying to get in on Canada's fighter jet replacement program - and seemingly would have the aircraft assembled by Bombardier in Canada. So there are a lot of moving parts here. Canada already has ordered patrol aircraft from Airbus. I would tend to see this as a deepening re...

Re: Bombardier announces LoI for 31 (+30 Options) CSeries from an unnamed European Customer

BA has had strong interest for the CSeries, likely for basing at London City where the CS100 is both operationally capable and would give the airline a lower cost, higher revenue generating plane for that small footprint. It's also a political no-brainer for the airline. I'm sure Lufthansa is a cand...

Re: Airbus and Bombardier Announce C Series Partnership

I'll bet AC is wishing they'd never gone with the MAX now. I see both major Canadian carriers hugely supporting this partnership especially in the wake of Boeing's tanking image here. I think AC is quite happy with both its CSeries and Max orders. It is taking Max-8s and Max-9s, mainly the former. ...

Much of this thread has been about how Boeing (and Airbus) cannot hope to compete with the C-Series. How it is such an amazing, some have even used "game changing," aircraft. But the reality is actually very different. It has been in development for over a decade. It has been officially o...

So much acrimony here, let's dial it down First, understand the process. The first stage of the duty imposition is the easiest, because the applicant isn't required to prove the extent to which it has been. So duties will likely be imposed on Tuesday. What's to ask? The market isn't that big. And Canadian government business isn't going to fly on a foreign airline if there is a Canadian option. When it comes to fleet acquisition, Air Canada rarely makes mistakes, and when it has it's not been with large numbers of aircraft, usually with niche buys like the 747-400 combi and the A340-500. The combi might have been an example of government interference, as the military lacked a dedicated car...
