Still don’t understand why French crews can’t be on local contracts while airline is in Ireland . French easy crews were flying uk reg planes (now Austrian ) so why change to Malta? Are fence based aircraft going to be called Malta air ? Or are they flying Ryanair branded aircraft? Are Ryanair’s aff...Jump to post
I wonder whether in the future if setlios or Ryan family sells up would change things a lot. I think consolidation will happen as markets become over saturated. Airlines can not keep expanding at the same rate . What we’re seeing now is having to purchase airlines to expand . It will be interesting ...Jump to post
I think the A220 will be great . It will be worth having and maybe they will expand citflyer services out of Lcy and also put city flyer ba brand to the regionsJump to post
Does anyone know when the results eg preferred bidders etc will be announced ?Jump to post
Yes but in the winter it’s not that hot there. Probably 20 degrees . Lots of people from UK especially head to warmer places . Caribbean Dubai etc . This is not that far away and unlike Cape Verde has sandy beaches and is fairly green . It’s also got a fair bit of wildlife . It’s also quite cheap so...Jump to post
I’m surprised Banjul isn’t more popular with Europeans looking for winter sun. It’s weather from Oct to March looks pretty decent with temps in the low 30 c . I wonder if we will see more tourism coming here especially from the he uk which is seeing a rise in non eu travel . Also in addition to tc w...Jump to post
Yes it’s a private equity firm . Hopefully more successful for they employees than greybulls efforts with monarchJump to post
With the 797 possibly being pushed back might be enough . It’s a shame airbus didn’t have enough resources to redo the a330 as clean sheet composite aircraft to counter 787. Maybe with the demise of the a380 we can see resources pushed in this direction . Ideally a range with 320 321 322 and then 33...Jump to post
Yes I do hence the large airbus order also if you read previous posts I mention the private equity company quite a few timesJump to post
Not just the aircraft but like a lot of firms some high staff costs as well to inherit .
Although if indigo gets it I’m sure there will be suddenly a lot of new a321neo aircraft on their way
I think what we will see after the airline sale is a slimming down . Store closures and a move to a more online presence . By not having an airline they will be able to hopefully control costs more effectively. One solution might be that Fosun who cannot buy more than 49 percent of the airline goes ...Jump to post

Also more often...Jump to post
Saw an interesting article saying that the news by citi wiped 40% off tc groups value might be some underhand move . The company fosun which is touted as taking over the travel arm have strong links to citi banks Asia branch . The move by citi just made the take over 140 million cheaper !Jump to post
The fact remains that tc is still a great brand with lots of loyal customers . I’m sure with the right investment and restructure this company can be turned roundJump to post
The question is how much is it worth easyJet or Ryanair buying tc UK to stop wizz expanding is another question .
Also if the aviation sector is possibly about to encounter weak economy/ recession and poor exchange rates and rising fuel prices . Is taking on such capacity a huge risk ?
Do mean the UK airline or the whole holiday UK business ?
If I was then I would keep separate and merge wizz UK into same AOC . It’s still a strong brand in the uk . They could even sell flights on different brand websites . This would quadruple their UK interests .
That’s not going to help them at all . I think if tc isn’t sold off the whole group could struggle this winter . If these sales go through especially the fosun deal could be worth buying shares !Jump to post
Air Berlin niki ? That was carved up by Lufthansa easyJet and RyanairJump to post
The big question are they going to get more money or favour a sale of the whole or is it more likely to be split and sold separatelyJump to post
In one source says multiple bids for part and whole of airline . We know Lufthansa and virgin have bid for definite . I guess after share holder meeting we’ll find out who the others are . I imagine indigo is in the mixJump to post
Also worth noting that after this incident airbus promptly came up with a training remedy . All crews in sims (certainly in Europe anyway ) were trained in this scenario . Unfortunately due to the fact that there aren’t that many max sims this can’t be done . I do not feel that a 10 minute iPad sess...Jump to post
If easyJet could move into Frankfurt that would be good for them . I also think Lufthansa would rather easyJet than wizz or Ryanair . Has anyone shown any interest in the Scandinavian op or the pmi operation ?Jump to post
How many short haul jets have condor got ?
I wonder whether a deal with easyJet where they split it might be an option .
Weren’t air transat for sale ? Saw a thread on it somewhere on hereJump to post
I think it unlikely that the airlines will be sold together. Also I do not see the airline as a brand surviving .Jump to post
There’s been no public sign of easy being interested . It would make sense though now they are not going in to Alitalia with delta . They have the resources spare .Jump to post
If vs does want to create a hub will we see these leisure destinations being replaced by business routes?
I mean you don’t really need a hub in Manchester if you’re just flying point to point holiday places
Don’t tc also have a leased air tanker a330 as well?
Does a buy out mean they have to honour these commitments to air transat condor etc ?
If virgin want to make a hub in Manchester why don’t they buy the whole lot . The a321 can be used to help feed
If indigo bought tc would they rebrand as wiz or keep separate ? The only reason I could see easy buying is to stop wizz expansion into other bases . Can’t see what virgin can gain as a/c are old only crews trained and ready are of value and possibly slots .However they could probably grow themselve...Jump to post
Has easyJet actually made a bid ? I haven’t seen anything official ?Jump to post
Well if iAg by the airlines that would be a foot in the German market . Whether in low cost form like level or as a full service carrier . It would put them in a strong positionJump to post
I think that if indigo are involved I’m not sure whether they would merge brand into Wizz. Especially in Germany condor has a known reputation and loyal following . Tc tried rebranding them and it was a total failure . It would be much better to keep it like Ryanair did with LaudaJump to post
I don’t think lgw would be an issue as there is loads of competition from ba Norwegian and tui etc . The long haul although not in their current business plan is still their target passengers . I’d holiday sun pax . No premium pax. I however agree that it’s unlikely they will want to spend all that ...Jump to post
Personally It would be interesting if easyjet took them over . I think the It could be a really interesting to see if they would keep the wide bodies for Lh leisure routes and short haul capacity in summer . they could put the 330 on the commuter rush into ams !Jump to post
I could see condors 767 being replaced but there’s a good chance that 757 could be around a while longer . Hopefully hold out til the momJump to post
So if Boeing bought the Belfast plant they could profit from every airbus a220 sold . Would be a risk for airbus . Fingers crossed though it works out well for workers in Belfast . It would also be a shame to lose a specialist base of skill for the countryJump to post
I had heard that easy and virgin were going to team up . Vs for long easy for short . What about Air France klm . Getting slots in Frankfurt would be an advantage for themJump to post
Don’t forget Easter is late this year so it didn’t fall in the 1st quarter . Loads of people travel in these holidays especially from London etc . Lots of airlines show bad figures when this happensJump to post
Yes the brand name has been going for a while . Now though it is going to be much more focused and has a whole management structure ( ex tui) so is going to be different than what has gone before . These are going to be more package holiday focused rather than just using hotelipia for hotel bookings .Jump to post
when easyjet holidays launches for next year holiday season will this mean new routes for a dedicated holiday market, or just using existing network ? There could be destinations that would become more profitable if you are selling as a package could there not? Could we see Cape Verde or Gambia bein...Jump to post
A friend of mine at ek ran a take off and landing calc for 777 and reckons you can get into ltn with near max zfw and fuel for dxb. I’m not sure whether ltn now can take a widebody in its stands as the east and north apron has been remarked since el al used widebodies. Smaller stands to accommodate ...Jump to post
I had heard delta were considering Tomas cook .
Maybe with a tie up with other airlines . Virgin or easy ? Some valuable slots at lgw and Frankfurt . Maybe refocus tcx on virgins leisure routes and then virgin can operate more frequencies to us business cities
I was reading about how airlines such as BOAC had central terminals in the city where passengers could check in and be transported to the aircraft . This service stopped in the mid to late 70s . I was wondering whether could this make a come back ? A hassle free way to get to make sure you get to th...Jump to post
