DL tried a lot of these but backed out mainly due to the weakness in coverage in Texas but AA would have a good shot since it’s a major player there and would give some more options in a different direction. DL has implemented a travel fee waiver for everything on the coast from MYR to PHF, inland as far as GSO and RDU, for travel 9/13-9/20. Nothing yet from UA.

AVL is turning into quite an operation for them. SFB will be 9 weekly. PIE will be daily in addition to the already mentioned 16 weekly to FLL starting in March. The defense is on I guess against NK. How many aircraft will be based there? I presume G4 and NK will soon be selling seats for $1 apiece...

But as I am often trying to take the last (19:14) out, I've noticed some pretty steady and drastic delays (most appear weather/afternoon thunderstorm related either at LYH or wherever my flight is coming from)....

I actually kinda liked Via's emerging strategy of connecting secondary and tertiary markets nonstop to SFB--places like JAN, BTR, MOB, and MGM that G4 or F9 wouldn't touch with a 320 but Via might make work with a regional jet. No guarantee it would work, but it seemed worth trying.

G4 and UA compete on AVL-EWR, and UA added mainline as soon as G4 entered the market. That was about 18 months ago and both carriers are still on the route. G4 will soon compete with NK on AVL-FLL and (kinda sorta) AVL to Tampa (G4 to PIE, NK to TPA) and AVL to Orlando (G4 to SFB, NK to MCO).

There have been at least four ATL alternate airport proposals over time that I know of--Paulding County, Dawsonville, Gwinnett, and Charlie Brown (WN toyed with the idea of starting service there years ago). This is not new, nor is it likely to go away, and nor is it likely to happen anytime soon.
