Just a super hypothetical “what if” question - but does the 380 have the legs to do PER-Europe in the QF config? PER-FRA is shorter than AKL-DXB. I assume LHR would be restricted heavily.

Can someone explain what VA675 is? It’s a MEL-PER flight that just departed at 12:05am with a scheduled arrival of 1:40am. I assume it’s a repositioning flight, but wouldn’t it have a 4 digit code then? Would VA have sold seats on this unusually timed flight?

QF don’t operate from remote stands in SYD. Yes they do, gates 1A, 1B and 1C which bus out to bays 64-70 in the jet base. The downfall of EK in PER is very hard to watch. Only a few years ago they were by far the biggest player on PER-Europe. Why there is this notion on A.net that PER can't sustain premium demand is so beyond me.

Aside from the mining sector, Western Australians love to travel -and many of us choose affluent destinations flying J to get there.

When I flew QF SYD-JNB and our flight was 2 hours late, the cabin manager read out all the connecting flights on both SA and Comair to domestic destinations that passengers would now miss, and then their replacement services. Took a very very long time as she repeated everything twice.

I really really hope NH to PER actually materialises. Working in tourism focused retail in MEL, I’ve seen the number of Japanese tourists absolutely skyrocket since JL and QF launched direct services.

I wonder if it would be worth teaming up with VA for connections to places like BME.

Having been for Fiji I remember it was a bit of a struggle getting to the airport for a 7am flight, especially when your resort is 90 minutes away. I’m about to use QF points to try MU in F PVG-LHR - the taxes do come to around $700 but I figured it’s better than paying fifteen times that price for a full fare.

The same route on BA had taxes in the thousands. Ridiculous.
