Garuda's LCC Citilink is planning services to Australia https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/garudas-lcc-citilink-to-start-long-haul-flights-wit-459394/ Hopefully this won’t be at the expense of GA services, particularly to PER. GA is the only J option besides Batik. Have a feeling that East ...Jump to post

A few PER related things Today SQ223/214 will see the A333 replaced with regional A359 AirAsia X resumes second flight 4 weekly for this month, operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Air Asia Lombok flights have performed rather well for the first month Over the past month SA had operated ...Jump to post
Direct Busso - Melb flights looking they might be getting closer https://thewest.com.au/news/wa/melbourne-to-busselton-direct-flight-set-for-take-off-ng-b881230719z This is really exciting. I feel like QZ should’ve offered a triangular PER-LOP-DPS-PER service which would allow for passengers to divide their trip up between the two islands without impacting return loads hugely. They could even alternate the routing on different days to allow non-stop travel in both directions to and fro...Jump to post

Diverting due to a tech issue, aircraft being towed after arrival
The aircraft operating VA694 VH-XFH currently has an ETOPS related issue hence the longer flight. It has been flying routes with this sort of diversion for the past 2 days hence why every trans con flight it has operated has been delayed. Ah that explains it. Which airport(s) was it trying to stay ...Jump to post
[threeid][/threeid] Wouldn't the best way to deal with BI is to vote with your feet. They'll leave the market soon enough if their loads flatline. Would enough people vote with their feet though? In a way it's like people who complain about food prices at sporting venues. They complain about the pri...Jump to post
Can someone explain what VA675 is? It’s a MEL-PER flight that just departed at 12:05am with a scheduled arrival of 1:40am. I assume it’s a repositioning flight, but wouldn’t it have a 4 digit code then? Would VA have sold seats on this unusually timed flight?Jump to post
Amazing trip report!Jump to post
That’s a 73M so can’t be UA.Jump to post
I definitely think the potential is there. There was once a time on this site where people swore PER-LHR would ever become a reality...
Team up with VA for codeshares to ADL, BNE, MEL & SYD. Dozens of second-tier European destinations are now far closer in reach.
QF don’t operate from remote stands in SYD. Yes they do, gates 1A, 1B and 1C which bus out to bays 64-70 in the jet base. Those bays are only big enough for DH8s but there is busing infrastructure in place if they could find somewhere to park a larger aircraft. I perhaps should’ve been specific. Th...Jump to post
Perth Airport put a pin to the Perth - Joburg. Hopefully they get their act together as Ethiopian is sniffing around to get in on the Melbourne - Addis Ababa with an A359 Hopefully ET confirms MEL soon - they seem very keen, MEL is long overdue for a Africa service. I don't, however see it affectin...Jump to post

The downfall of EK in PER is very hard to watch. Only a few years ago they were by far the biggest player on PER-Europe. I would have thought the demise of EY services would give the second daily flight a lifeline, but I guess not. It’s fantastic that SQ has managed to remain at 4 x daily - I guess ...Jump to post
PER-SGN and PER-HKT would be great additions to the JQ network with a 321LR. No competition and JQ seems to do far better than VA ever did internationally from PER. The aircraft could be thrown on transcons to rotate them through the network or put them on Bali as well for crewing purposes (not havi...Jump to post
Why there is this notion on A.net that PER can't sustain premium demand is so beyond me.
Aside from the mining sector, Western Australians love to travel -and many of us choose affluent destinations flying J to get there.
QR doesn't fly an A380 here just for show and tell.
I'd say an MU announcement to PVG is a matter of when, not if. They did tentatively announce "trial flights" but nothing eventuated - maybe this announcement will give them the kick they need to get the ball rolling. I'm also surprised NH is jumping in straight to daily, which is a positiv...Jump to post
After months of rumours, NH has finally confirmed it will launch daily direct flights from Perth to Tokyo-Narita from September 1 next year. I was involved in one of the cancellation sagas in September, and QF did the exact same thing - told people to go get a hotel themselves and send through the receipts. Saying that, you had to be based outside of Victoria for any form of compensation which I found ridiculous, considering it was a Fri...Jump to post
Could a 77L operate LAX-PER year round in a 3-class config? Not saying it will ever happen, I’m just curious. That would be over 18 hours on the westbound leg.Jump to post
When I flew QF SYD-JNB and our flight was 2 hours late, the cabin manager read out all the connecting flights on both SA and Comair to domestic destinations that passengers would now miss, and then their replacement services. Took a very very long time as she repeated everything twice.Jump to post
I really really hope NH to PER actually materialises. Working in tourism focused retail in MEL, I’ve seen the number of Japanese tourists absolutely skyrocket since JL and QF launched direct services.
I wonder if it would be worth teaming up with VA for connections to places like BME.
Having been for Fiji I remember it was a bit of a struggle getting to the airport for a 7am flight, especially when your resort is 90 minutes away. A 3:45am wake up call was not ideal for the end of a holiday! QF will operate this service as a day flight, I put money on it. If anything, use the slot...Jump to post
Hello, I'm flying to Europe from Australia next Jun/July using points and have found First Class on MU PVG-LHR and BA HKG-LHR on the dates required. BA is about 40,000 points more in total, so right now I'm leaning towards MU - but I'm worried about some of the reviews I've read in regards to their ...Jump to post
With the prices QF are charging in J, I think there's significant demand for VS to jump on the route. This will also strengthen VA's position, especially as they've been expanding out of PER recently. With increased feed, CBR and OOL could potentially go year-round and HBA 5-7 x weekly. VS could als...Jump to post
