Doesn’t look like it’s “winds” after all… QF9 cancelled again today and replaced with QF209 - operating a MEL-PER-SIN-LHR routing. I would assume QF is being extra cautious, and for good reason. This won’t be sustainable in the long term though - a suspension of the nonstop will be imminent if the s...
Jump to postQF9 10/4 taking a very long route to avoid middle eastern airspace.
Jump to postDoes anyone have any indication on how VJ is going on their SGN-PER-ADL flights?
I still can’t believe anyone in their right mind would book the route through to Adelaide… the schedule, notably the redeye on the domestic sector, would be enough to drive me insane.
Following Silk Airs suspension of the route, 3K have announced SIN-BME seasonally starting June 25th running until October 26th, 2x weekly. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-03-28/jetstar-flights-broome-singapore-direct-route-south-east-asia/103640242 Fantastic news for BME. Jump to postTech crew is the same as any other type, based on duty time. For cabin crew I think they have also reduced the numbers down over the years - think they had 1 CSM, 2CSS and 19 FA (Not sure the BFA vs FA breakdown) now it’s more 1 CSM, 1 CSS and 16 FA I think You’re incorrect. QF use minimum 22 cabin...
Jump to postToday marks 6 years since the first PER-LHR flight took off PER-LHR leaves every day with barely a free seat. Jump to postRe Kuching - MH does have quite a number of 737s on order, wonder if that would PER-KCH (or a return of PER-BKI) would be in their plans. Could be serviced either by MH, or if they're transferring some older 737s to Firefly, then perhaps FY might be a better fit. Airasia was planning to start PER-K...

Left of centre idea, RG (or others) but how much extra range might the A35S's have in the tank? Any chance that AKL-LHR could be made a sunrise route? Im betting zero chance (though JFK would be more possible). AKL-LHR on QF you mean? I don’t think so. Re JFK again, from AKL as PS you mean? I would...
Jump to postAKL-PER-AKL to connect to PER-LHR and AKL-JFK - needs to be more than daily to connect both ways :crossfingers: PER-AKL is definitely on the cards for the XLR. Changes are coming especially in J - HUGE service restyle being launched. Completely agree, a J service revamp is incredibly...
Jump to postSurely double daily Melbourne and Sydney soon? Bizarre that they have kept Oz so small. The fares are still very high on the Kangaroo routes. Jump to postThese claims people are making regarding QFLink taking over all short haul domestic flying is absolutely ludacris. Jump to postReally hoping Bonza spread its wings west this year. MCY-PER is ripe for picking.
Jump to postMEL-LAX does not need any additional capacity, QF and UA are struggling to fill planes as it is - unless they’re filling in the gaps of QF pulling back from 9 to 7 weekly mid-year.
Jump to postVA also being a “new” entrant on (OOL/ADL)-PER-DPS will surely strengthen their case too.
Jump to postQF will be on PER-AKL with the XLR, I put money on it - even with a supbar recliner product it will do well.

Jump to postPretty shocked there is still no plan for EK to resume its second daily PER-DXB. At one stage, they were thrice daily on this route.
Perhaps EY should give the market another crack.
Would be a bold move for Rex to completely move its operation (including SAAB flights) to WSI and become the airport's hub carrier.
Main downside to this is a lack of international connections for regional passengers.
Will be interesting to see how the QF Group also breaks down their WSI operations, I assume they will not want to canibalise their SYD fortress. At most I can only see 4 x daily WSI-MEL/BNE, 2 x daily ADL/CBR and daily PER for mainline (to begin). JQ I can see multiple frequencies to MEL, AVV, BNE, ...

Jump to postPretty awesome to see a scheduled A340-300 flight back in Aussie skies! Congrats to SAA and PER, a direct link to South Africa from WA is well overdue.
I suspect QF will be following suit in the months to come.
I still think there are a plethora of underserved/untapped markets the Bonza model would work well for, particularly out West. Theoretically basing 2 aircraft in PER could see a pretty nifty network with red eyes to MCY/OOL/NTL/TSV/LST (all 2-3 weekly each), and then twice or thrice weekly services ...
