Ryanair to try again on MAN-KBP. This time a 2 weekly flight on Monday and Friday starting 1st April. Flights are already bookable. Probably discussed at the time but I must have missed it, what stopped them last time? They announced it and I was looking at booking flights etc, next minute they wer...
Jump to postThere is evidence to suggest they are cutting LAX in S19. None of this is confirmed. Hi Dobbo - what evidence? Can you share? MAN - LAX is loaded and for sale from end of June next year. Hi Internaute You are quite right - as things stand it is on sale and GDS. What they have done is shorten the se...
Jump to postThe L-1011 flying was by British Airtours (along with 747 also). About a half dozen airlines have tried LAX-MAN over the years, none really last. The weekly charter flight routing LGW-MAN-BGR-LAX continued to be operated by Caledonian. As you said the 747 briefly operated in the late 1980s, and a f...
Jump to postI wish them and Viegin would fly to different destinations, then we might get to keep and grow them! Are they both still flying to Boston? Yes, both airlines operate seasonal flights to BOS. 2 weekly from Virgin and 3 weekly from Thomas Cook. Last year both had load factors in the 60s. It'll be int...
Jump to postI do wonder whether one of th big boys will bite and operate a XXX-MAN-NYC service? Or even another US city. Who would be the most likely if this was the case? EK? QR? SQ? I’d say the latter would be the most unlikely. Emirates have a great brand identity in the UK and I’m sure a daily service could...
Jump to postFantastic news and long overdue. I've flown Jet several times and always had a good experience with them. Couldn't spot it in the article unless i've missed it, but I guess they will slot into T2 for now? The MAN-India direct flight by 9W should be announced in the next few days, according to our so...
Jump to postI think the service will help stimulate some demand too. I think it will be a success and hopefully we will see it go non-stop before too long.
Great news also about Jet. An Indian link is well overdue!
MT to MAN? I only say this as wasn’t this rumoured a while ago? Definitely the outsider mind...
Jump to postFantastic news about ET. Said for a few years they’d be a good edition and I’m sure the service will do well
Jump to postIsn’t Macron effectively doing what Thatcher did way back in the 70’s/80’s? By Weakening and/or eradicating unions? Love or hate Thatcher, we don’t go through such crippling strikes in this county much anymore.
Jump to postWhile only hearsay, I’ve heard from someone ‘in the know’ that the IAH route seems to be doing well, and it sells well up front which is obviously important. As you state, SIN is very busy. Be nice if it went daily to start with.
Jump to postMAN - BKK has been muted for years now and really should happen IMO. The 350 or 787-9 would surely make it work, especially if timed to connect with TG's Australia services. Not everyone wants to go via the ME3 all the time. Agreed, its long been rumoured. Just wonder whether TG are the airline to ...
Jump to postFrom people 'in the know' i believe the new MT Seattle service is showing very encouraging forward bookings. Good news if true. I wonder if, a fairly big if, AA dropped ORD, would MT pick that up one day... Id still like to see MT head East. They have a lower cost base to make even BKK work even if ...
Jump to postIncredible really, great video! And what a sound track from all those engines
What surprised me, just how little the EK livery has changed. To my (untrained) eye it is virtually identical, although im guessing there has been some tinkering with font etc?
Wow. Quite an increase form Ryanair and easyJet. Quite how both terminals handle it, I don’t know!
On a side note, I forgot lay with Cathay later in the year and I’ve had a flight number change. Times remain the same. Does this point to a (potential) increase in frequency?
Jet2 will have 2 A330 from Air Tanker next summer, and MT will continue to have one, so that mans only one A330 available from the surge fleet of 4 I’m sure it was the other way around? GVYGK and GVYGM were with Thomas Cook this summer. (GK is still there and GM should rejoin next summer.) GVYGK is...

Jump to postI wonder if MAN just up the road had anything to do with this? Didnt FI operate a few 767's into MAN recently for increased demand? Maybe WOW will jump in as you say.
Jump to postDidn’t they operate ages ago? 6 years or so I’m guessing. Around the days you’d see a good few jumbos from Air China, China Airlines, Cathay and even Jade cargo! Was MNG on a A300?
Jump to postThe demolition of T2 has started. Pretty much most of the building at 215 has gone, just leaving the grey lift and stair shaft remaining. Good riddance !
I don’t really understand. With it being their holiday arm in trouble, if that folds why can’t they be flown on the scheduled flights that Monarch operate, unded by the CAA? As the airline would still be operating just not their holiday business? So if a family booked with monarch holidays and are i...
Jump to postI would say it's a long shot. Especially now DL has pulled out and handed the reins to VS. As mentioned above, any connecting pax can route through ATL or JFK. Even more so now with the upgauge in seating capacity on both routes.

Virgin Atlantic boosts B744s flights from Manchester 4x JFK 3x ATL
(Well done!)
A333 not B744
Be interesting to see MT's next move. There we rumours of a second daily JFK flight from MAN, maybe this is a preemptive strike from DL/VS to stop someone else adding capacity.
Jump to postGoing East would be interesting, although with them cutting a lot of former routes and concentrating on TATL it does seem unlikely, but would love to see it happen! As a (very) out the box idea, dont Jet and Virgin have a simple codeshare and /or mileage programme agreement? What about a MAN-India r...

Jump to postImagine one in that all black livery they have on one of their A343's!
Jump to postI've just mentioned on another thread, but I'd heard whispers if additional MT frequencies to JFK, potentially a 2nd daily. Let's see what happens on that front, as others have said there appears to be some sort of slack in the A332 fleet
Jump to postwhy on earth have BA not announced a takeover of this route? this had been rumored ages There will probably be a gap in JFK-MAN from AA/BA but I foresee a return in the next couple of years - perhaps after there is more Brexit certainty. AA have lost a lot of O&D traffic to UA, VS but particula...
Jump to postRead elsewhere that AA are cutting JFK-MAN.... Will BA pick this up? Can't see OneWorld leaving it to VS/DL and MT to share the spoils.
Jump to postBe interesting to see what MT do. Agree with User001, they are less susceptible to poorer yields than the legacies, but time will tell with MIA. The rumour circulating are it isn't performing as they would like and may replace it with a second daily JFK some days and another route. We shall see. Wha...
Jump to postThanks for the figures. I was only saying the other day there isn't half some wide body traffic at MAN now. Slow month to be expected for the ME airlines. I travelled a few years back in June and could have had two full rows to myself. I suspect EK used the opportunity to do some A380 checks hence w...
Jump to postThe pier thing surprised me too. But I believe the plan eventually is c pier will be remodelled and joined to t2? Got to say it will be a HUGE improvement.
Jump to postAs User001 states, it's been off for ages. I've seen them taping it up for atleast 6 weeks. Alarmist inaccurate reporting from the press. Returned due to a low oil pressure indicator.
Jump to postThe UK part of the business is doing very well apparently. The German side is the one lagging by all accounts.
MT have stated they want more routes/based aircraft so time will tell.
Whilst cabin load is not indicative of yield and success/failure of a route, for what it's worth MT posts excellent load factors for their service. Don't know about Virgin unfortunately.
Jump to postThe thing is with MAN is the lack of space. The arrivals and departure halls are tiny, so space is at a premium. Passport control areas are so small that one A321 offload and the hall is full, hardly ideal. There aren't enough check in desks for the airlines they have as it is, so security I crammed...
Jump to postGood. What a tit. He had the capacity to kill 200 plus people with an idiotic act. It's a show of force from the courts that will hopefully deter this sort of behaviour.
Jump to postSickening. How anyone can do this is beyond any comprehension. I see IS have claimed responsibility, inevitably I suppose. Almost impossible to stop every attack especially something like this.
Jump to postIt's a more quiet period this time of year so they may use this time to downgauge and do A380 maintenance. Loads are lower throughout May/June time. A few years back I remember the old A330's subbing in on many occasions whilst the A380's were under checks.
Jump to postIt seems that there might be some truth in the rumour that these planes do not operate to places like Cuba as the TCX ones never seem to go there, doing US and other routes instead. Is this related to the "military" nature of these planes? Ive thought the same thing. They definitely seem ...
Jump to postMT have two, GVYGK and GVYGM. As someone has already noted they mainly do the USA routes, GVYGK occasionally did GOI over winter but that was it.
Jump to postSurprised MAN hasn't been announced - wasn't that one of their desired destinations? MAN can absolutely handle an India non stop by its own merits. I'm surprised it has taken so long. I've always thought Jet could start something, with help from Virgin maybe? Could have connecting passengers from/o...
