What a great post!!!! I have wondered the same for years. Was it the electrical systems? The leather seats? The air freshner? We may never know. I always compared it to the new car smell. It's heavenly. At one point I actually wondered if it was aromatherapy aimed at getting you to fly more.

When you see all the great photos of Boeing jets leaving Boeing field for delivery, already painted in the airline's livery, I always assumed Boeing must paint them on-site. But maybe not. Are they shipped out somewhere to be painted then returned to Seattle before the delivery flight?

Flightaware doesn't indicate arrival gates at Changi airport (although it does for departures gates FROM Changi). I'd assume that a Singapore flight can arrive from, say EWR, park at a gate and then fly back to EWR departing from the same gate as it arrived.

Being an old fuddy-duddy, I really hadn't taken to the 787 or the A350. I like more old fashioned planes with squared lines, more beefy (777 as an example). I don't like these cutsie curved wings, skinny rounded tails etc. But the more I have looked at the A350, the more I think she's a beauty.

Gang, in looking at Delta's A350 fleet, it seems some have the curved winglet and some have the straighter, thinner winglet. But I'm not led to believe any are the XWB version. Did Airbus change the winglets mid-production. I'm thinking I should know this but can't figure out why the difference.
