If the airline is familiar and well established, I have no problem boarding their planes. I'm fully aware I'm 100x more at risk driving myself to the airport in Miami traffic than sitting in a thoroughly maintained aircraft.

I typically recline on longer flights. Nobody sitting in front of me has ever asked me if they could recline, and nobody sitting behind me has ever complained when I did recline. As for window shades, I close them if there's glare coming in, or if I'm trying to sleep, or suppose the light is ruining...

I've never found the MD80 or DC-9 to be underpowered, quite the contrary, you really feel the power. Especially in the cheap seats, it's deafening back there  Wink.

I live 10 minutes from the show. Crowds are ***HUGE***, get there early or sit in obscene amounts of traffic. Spotting is best on top of buildings, but that's not easy to arrange. As the other poster said, LOTS of water, sunscreen... it's already summer in South Florida.

As somebody said in another post about the same issue, engine cowlings flying off are not entirely uncommon. A mechanic may have installed the cover wrong... but I will say that everybody onboard that A/C is very lucky nothing serious became of it.

I think KLM has got a nice fleet. I'm not sure why, but that "KLM Blue Livery" hits my eye so pleasantly. I also like the fact that JetBlue and others have taken after PanAm and name each plane, it's a very cool touch  Smile.
