Actually the carrier I worked for has it in their manual that thrust reverser usage is prohibited if you have working thrust reversers and the runway is over 7000ft long. So basically can’t use them even if I have them. The only time I’m allowed to use them is if I’m about to go off the end of the ...Jump to post
Why the 777-200LR and not the -200ER? The LR has very limited feedstock. I'm fairly sure that the only LRs available are the ten ex-DL ones, with the ex-AI/EY ones being scrapped a while back. Loads of -200ER is feedstock available. Looks like only 60 total 777-200LRs delivered. What's the status o...Jump to post

MLB is now marketed as Melbourne-Orlando Intl Airport. Feels like a bit of a stretch.
Yes. Runway 4R/22L closed until the end of September. Adverse weather can further reduce the arrival rate, so UA proactively cancels flights to salvage as much of the operation as it can. The short hauls are first to go. If they can't shoot the visual to 29, all arrivals must share 4L/22R with depa...Jump to post
I started flying decent amounts in 2006 and got interested in aviation within a couple of years from that. For me those years from the mid-2000s onward until the early 2010s were the golden years. Golden years for me were the early-mid 1970s to early 1980s. Lots of variety.... 707, 747, 727, DC-8, ...Jump to post
Interesting choice of diversion airport, though looking at the flight track, it's hard to suggest a better one based on the point where they appear to have decided. I guess MEM has a bigger port of entry than STL, etc. owing to the FedEx hub. Though I suppose the customs function of processing pass...Jump to post
Zero need for additional airline infrastructure at PTK. Its best suited for non-121 service. If niche or boutique service like Lakeshore Express, there are some niche quasi-leisure high-end markets to exploit. Then again, when you start getting into that market, thats more the territory for the Net...Jump to post

Many express freighters wait most of the day for their evening and early morning duties. It would make sense to have a combi version available to be used as a regional commuter during the daytime. UPS tried that with a handful of their 727-100QCs on weekends from 1997-2001. Ended up not going too w...Jump to post
The problem is that north of, say, Saint Louis, the demand to the Panhandle drops off a cliff. I grew up in Chicago and knew literally no one who vacationed in the Panhandle. Redneck Riviera.... Isn't Venezuela restricted airspace? Restricted for whom? Overflight permits can be difficult to impossible to obtain from the Venezuelan government and have been rescinded prior entry due to “money”. Going to be interesting to see where they'll house those aircraft after conversion to WGA colors...their small ramp area in Shreveport is already packed to maximum. Probably RSW- their HQ is in Estero, FL. Plenty of ramp space available where the old terminal used to be. Over the years I've seen mu...Jump to post
I was having a conversation with someone over the weekend about Allegiant in GRR. I looked at all the cities they now serve from GRR, and it's quite impressive, albeit some are seasonal, and many are only 2x per week: AUS BOS VPS FLL (seasonal) LAS LAX BNA EWR SFB AZA PDX (seasonal) PGD RAP (2 weeks...Jump to post
Wow I wonder how close to V1 that was, seriously impressive breaking performance as well. For those curious... reject speed 130, V1 148 (VR 148 as well). Fuse plugs melted, all four main gear tires need replacement. Several outlet guide vanes and at least one of the chevron-shaped acoustic panels s...Jump to post

With money, anything is possible. Right, but in this case we have one engine bagged and the other partially disassembled, no flights in four years, one engine said to be timed out. Money can fix that for sure, the real question is why hasn't it already? Because he hasn't got enough donations from h...Jump to post
....Lets go to the whole story of the London-Detroit rights. This was originally held by Pan Am and operated by a 747 in the 70's and early 80s and went to the A310 as soon as they were available so it was obviously not doing super well. When they sold their TATL network to DL, they took over the r...Jump to post

Widebodies use 21R/3L often. The 350 can make ICN off it, which is quite impressive. There are some spotter videos on YouTube of them doing it. LH 340's have used it as well, FOD isn't an issue. 21R takeoffs: 359 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlT9gu-r54A 333 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a09fw1...Jump to post
