Re: Australian Aviation Thread - December 2018

Chose between SQ and VA if - hypothetically - both ran to Singapore? I'd choose VA with one consistent seat over the crazy array of SQ J seats. The new A380 is to be avoided in J, the footwell is for people shaped like a pretzel! VA service is usually great, food is also great!

Re: Airbus and Boeing meet Qantas Project Sunrise challenge, RFP to be completed by end of 2019

Just did the most excellent Boeing factory tour in Seattle. The 777x weighs a fair bit more than the 350, so QF would be waiting to get the final weight of the x. It is not yet rolled out - until it does test flights NEXT YEAR, QF cannot know what it will weigh. Weight is EVERYTHING! They're being p...

Re: Could Boeing further stretch the 787 above -10?

787-900 and 777-200 are close in size but the 787 takes off almost 50 tonnes lighter. That says a lot about economics!

Re: New Zealand Aviation Thread - June 2018

NZ - V- QF on USA: Apologies if this has been done here recently before. Just flew NZ from LAX, they have 2 x 777-300, 1 x 777-200 (via Raratonga), 1 x San Fran, 1 x Vancouver and 1 x Houston here at Auckland this morning. That must come close to matching QF in capacity? Pretty good numbers I think!...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - May 2018

Just noticed how rock solid QF9 Perth>LHR is performing. Regularly just over 17 hours outbound, 16.20 the other way. Anyone know what the loads look like?

Re: NZ6 AKL-LAX returns to AKL 6 April

My wife was onboard. They went mech, returned, and served dinner at the gate while they tried to sort out some hydraulic issue. Had standby crew ready to resume but could not get part in time. Deplaned, took long time get through immigration - airport struggled to handle this at 1am. Eventually hote...

QF Int Business Class

I recently returned to Qantas after a lengthy break and found all aspects of my two flights were excellent! QF 129 Sydney > Shanghai, A330-200, Oct 10. A morning departure, around 30 minutes late but we made up time in the air and arrived Shanghai around...

7 Hour Delay Into JFK

Done with the charms of Vegas, I caught the morning flight to New York. Flying against the day, four and half hours would put me into JFK at 3.30pm on Sunday 26th. Plenty of time to check into...
