Looks like they went missed fairly early on. I suspect they would have been back talking to approach radar and been instructed to make the turn for sequencing.
It may also be the published procedure but I'll let you dig out the charts for that.

So if a plane holds 150, then an airline could take 200 reservations for the flight, and just let on the first 150 to pay? A Cashiers cheque is guaranteed by the bank as its drawn from the bank's funds not your niece's account.

You could have stopped a personal cheque.

It purely to stop last minute bookings to UK/Europe while LHR is pax numbers restricted. Existing ticket holders won't be affected and you can still book connections to mid/long haul destinations.

There's a metro/automated people mover between the terminals and car parks. No airside transfer on two different tickets that I'm aware of though there may be, follow any flight connections signs if you see them.
