I could definitely see AZ serving ATL, MSP and maybe DTW seasonally. Ages ago AZ was to announce IAH service and regretfully it never happened -- they they hooked up with Skyteam. Not with DL flying the route. FCO is extremely seasonal as mentioned, but non-JFK DL hubs have enough service. Yes, the...Jump to post
The fan clubs in CLT, PHL, and PHX will be disappointed that MNL won’t be their first Asian nonstop.
Not going to happen, even from DFW or LAX. MIA has a lot of MNL traffic, but yields that make AA ORD-China look good and we know how that worked out.
Even with the Air Italy, AV and WW setbacks, ORD keeps moving forward! FI going daily double offsets WW, AA adding seasonal to ATH and upgauging 3 LHR to 789 (1 is seasonal), Y4 to QRO, and TP starting in June. ET going to 5x weekly. Looking forward to 2020, LY is now confirmed! It’s just a matter o...Jump to post
Interesting that ORD is on this list at all. The delays at the airport are down significantly when compared to before the newer runways came online. Maybe because ORD was slot controlled in the past and has had delay problems as well. Most of this is changing due to the new runway configuration, ev...Jump to post
And anetters think PHL is AAs new Asia hub with 22 a day to NRT? ORD has more F / J per day than that and AA can’t make it work. Good luck PHL! And CLT?
I can see JL doing HND-BOS/DFW/LAX/MIA/ORD/SEA, but HND-AUS/BNA/CLT/PHL/PHX/RDU make little sense.
I would guess the following will be required / demanded:
I can’t find where I saw this, but anyone else see or hear that Avianca is pulling out of ORD. May 19th... GUA is only booking in full fare Y in May 4x a week: https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/282910/avianca-ns19-us-inventory-changes-as-of-12feb19/ And AV just announced a GUA hub. ...Jump to post

MIA to South Africa or hubs with big populations to CMN are the only routes that make sense for AA to Africa. As mentioned above, DFW is not an oil market! IAH is the oil market in Texas. DFW has some HQs, but the employees and commercial airline travelers are in IAH. DFW to West Africa would be a t...Jump to post
If CLT is that important to AA to Asia, than why didn’t AA apply for CLT-HND? There is a reason AA doesn’t fly and won’t fly CLT to Asia: it would lose more money than ORD was loosing. LAX is bleeding too, but less than ORD. People here “want” routes that are not needed. Face it, AUS, CLT, and RDU a...Jump to post
Any update on ORDs performance? Based on this forum; it’s an atrocious money losing route and only there because UA and the city of Chicago “pressured” the CEO of NZ (who used to work in Chicago) fly this route. We all know ATL, AUS, BNA, BOS, CLT, DFW, DTW, MIA, PHL, PHX, RDU, & SEA are much be...Jump to post

And that’s just Asia! Throw in BOG/BSB/GIG/GRU/GYE/LIM/SCL/UIO. Finally: AMS/ARN/ATH/BRU/BUD/CDG/CPH/DME/DUS/EDI/FCO/HEL/...Jump to post
B6 is trading JFK and BOS to AA for ORD. Really. AA reduced ops at JFK to make it an O&D operation and is growing PHL as their hub ops. They don't want JFK as a Hub. This was a sarcastic joke. B6 isn’t leaving BOS AA is not keen on expanding JFK AA at ORD is a pure lower 48ish plus LHR and CUN....Jump to post
Given the tech connections between the Chicago area and India the suggestion AA couldn't make this work appears to not bode well for the long-term viability of their ORD hub... AA has shown no interest or intent to connect pax through ORD internationally on their own metal. Only JV carriers. ORD ha...Jump to post
Jewish population does not = demand to Israel. NY/NJ, MIA, and LA have large Israeli populations. I personally think ORD-TLV can work due to connections. We know AA won’t fly it and UA doesn’t have the gates at ORD. Sure, UA could probably make it work (9pm departure from ORD and 5am arrival at ORD)...Jump to post
I wouldn't be surprised to see a summer seasonal PHL-CMN or even PHL-RAK. Morocco is getting to be extremely popular now with Americans. US had, and now AA has a lot of experience in doing these seasonal routes, and I feel like they could probably make Morocco work. RAK would be my first guess for ...Jump to post
DL and UA are begging for this. Others as well. A big market and Boeing is sitting in there ass for years. If Boeing doesn’t announce this year, Boeing can’t complain when DL, FI, and UA give Airbus 300 orders. Orders for what? Airbus doesn't have a 763-sized aircraft. I guess DL and UA can order A...Jump to post
I doubt DL will get all 6 or even 5 requests. My locks: AA: DFW (1) LAS LAX DL: ATL DTW PDX SEA HA: HNL UA: EWR IAD ORD Each of the big 3 get 3 with DL getting 4 and HA getting one. That leaves 1 open, let the games begin! JL: BOS DFW (AA guaranteed 1, this will supplement) LAX ORD (AA drops NRT). S...Jump to post
DL has DTW adequately covered to the UK and Italy (and AMS as well). I’ve never heard of DTW-MAN about to be announced twice! When at what airline? ORD lost MAN after 32 years, the one time “best performing” TATL route per flight attendants (a reliable source). AA f—-ed this route up by using crap p...Jump to post
ORD has limited gates for expansion for the foreseeable future. Upgauging is how ORD is growing.
If / when the satellite gates and T2 are built / rebuilt, ORD will be hard pressed to get to 700. In 10 years that could change, but who knows what ORD will be like in 10 years.
QF has stated publicly that BNE-ORD on a 789 will happen if the JV with AA is approved. SYD-ORD is not possible today, but Project Sunrise would bring aircraft capable of flying SYD-JFK/LHR/ORD. Can you elaborate on what "Project Sunrise" is? I have heard this many times but I am unfamili...Jump to post

My feeling is that there's at least a 50% chance that DL gets either 5 or all 6 of their requests. They went to significant lengths in their application to highlight the competitive dynamics between DL and the JVs, including the flexibility the JVs have through their Japanese partners to move gatew...Jump to post

In ORD you already see a lot of 788s taking over former 763 routes, ORD-CDG being one of them. You also see the 788 no less than 2x daily on the hourly ORD-DFW flight. The 788 is also taking over former long haul 777 routes, such as ORD-LHR and ORD-NRT. It is interesting that the ORD hub sees the 7...Jump to post

I think Chicago or Toronto would come first, especially since ORD is the second busiest market in North America from BEG, right after JFK. I think Sydney could work. I am not sure why Qantas doesnt fly the A380 from Sydney to OHare. The traffic is there. QF does not have a plane that can fly ORD-SYD nonstop.
