The flight crew reported that the cockpit door had opened during the depressurization event. In
a revision to the Flight Crew Operations Manual, issued on January 15, 2024
, Boeing confirmed
that the door functioned as designed.

my 2 cents on the door issue , I don't understand how after years of doing plug doors, we have a problem installing them correctly now. unfortunately the FAA will probably want a redesign so the door won't blow out because it's bigger than the hole. It was posted far earlier in the thread that the force applied by the lower spring mechanisms appear to assist in being able to lift the plug clear of the 12 side-stop posts for plug removal, but do not have the spring force necessary to actually "push" the plug up clear of the side-posts ...

AAR's response after Deutsche Bank also noted this morning that the plugs are sometimes opened during WiFi installs. AAR is claiming that they didn't open the door plug on this aircraft during its install visit or do any work near it, which I guess is a bit relative considering the antenna goes rig...

I don't live in the area anymore, but pre-COVID after airliner operations commenced on the newly-expanded runway (September 2014), it saw just as a routine amount of use as the northern runway. Any lack of routine use on it now can most likely be chocked up to COVID.
