Re: Boeing NMA in doubt as customers push for all new 737MAX and 757 replacement

This is incredibly obvious to me and I hope it’s not too late for Boeing to realize it. Three variants: 797-7/8/9 Single aisle: -7 is 737-9 size, -8 is 752, -9 is 753 (maybe a hair smaller). Width is slightly wider than A320 (MC-21 style). Ranges are 5,500nm for -8 and -8, 4500nm for -9. All GTF or ...

Re: Did DL's order for the A-220 signal the end of the 717?

DL obtained its fleet of 717's first as part of a merger with NW, then by taking them off the hands of smaller operators that could not obtain more or wanted a different aircraft after Boeing discontinued the 717. DL got them cheap but has the capability to maintain orphaned aircraft types in house...

The only next-gen narrowbodies DL has committed to are the A321N and the A221 / CS1. Like many here, I think they'll change most of the A221 to A223 orders which will be the A319 / 73G / MD88 replacement. They still have a need in the 738 / MD90 / A320 160-170 seat area and I think the 7M8 could slo...

If you put 90 seats in a used CRJ-900 and focus on no frills P2P service between small/medium sized cities it’s probably not the worst airline idea ever. Can’t see CASM being too much worse than G4’s maddogs.

Do I think it would be successful? Probably not. But worse business models have flown.

If the new 797 MOM seats between 220 to 270 seats and have a range of 5000 nm, I think there is a real danger of cannibalizing 787 sales. Presumably, the 797 MOM would be way more efficient and have a lower CASM than the 787 on all routes below its maximum range. To me a 797 with 220 to 270 seats s...
