Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2020

Let's remember, an air delivery is in some sense a failure to place inventory optimally. It's nothing that Amazon wants to do, it's something that Amazon has to do. If there's a cheaper alternative (like delivering by truck from a local FC) Amazon will seek that first. Thanks for your excellent pos...

Re: Air France KLM - Master Thread

Forgive my going slightly OT but aside from AF/KLM how come we never saw any 767,787s from UK,German, Italian leisure carriers or even A332/3s? (TUI,MT,DE,Blu Panorama.Neos etc)? TUI NL operated a 788 via CUR on the way back, and a few French carriers operated regular flights. There are some one-of...

A few interesting ones operated by OR (TUI Airlines Netherlands) on 737-800 in the past: AMS-SID-FOR-NAT-SID-AMS (Brazil) AMS-HRG-MBA-ZNZ-HRG-AMS (Kenya/Tanzania) AMS-DXB-KTM-DXB-AMS (Nepal) Travel Service also used to operate 737's (in various routings) from PRG to CUN, amongst others PRG-PDL-BDA-C...

Re: QUESTION: The origins of hub-and-spoke

For KLM the origins of hub and spoke go way back to the 1920 and 1930's, when the airline designed and published most of its flights to connect with one-another at AMS. I never knew this, but this is really cool! It even shows that even back than an overnight stay of the aircraft at an outstation w...

Not sure if it fits the thread, but the Short Field Performance (SFP) package for the Boeing 737-800 was developed by Boeing specially after a request from Gol, because they wanted to operate the B737-800 in short runways, specially Santos Dumont (SDU) airport, which have a 1323m (4341ft) runway. ZAZ is right in between the economic centers of Spain which are Barcelona/Madrid/Basque Country so it's really convenient in that aspect. You can do a return trip in truck to any of those places in a single day which vastly lowers your trucking costs. It's probably going to get to me more important...

It sounds like a broker is what you need. They know the market, they have all the contacts and are there to help you set up. Costs are limited compared to what the chartering of the plane will cost, and through their contacts they will most likely even save you money compared to when you do it yours...

Re: Winter leases for Sunwing and Air Transat

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that in the case of a dry lease, the receiving operator has to fly under its own AOC and register the aircraft accordingly. So it may be that some aircraft are "dry" leased to Transat/Sunwing as is, to be flown for a set time period under their care, while ...
